Europe / Translation from Dutch

Can anyone give me a rough translation of the following letter please.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939K-89S6-XZ?fbclid=IwAR156oSX48-wepjeo_BkbAyAcJ3uP0lFxtahahsrxFMV-5sdwOzqqw2FOnk&i=398&wc=Q84W-TKZ%3A299948901%2C301816301&cc=1949343

It is an attachment for the marriage of Maria Catharina Schnitzler to Adolf Krajenbrink in Arnhem in 1816.  I think it was to obtain consent for her marrying (even though she was 40 years old) and refers to her paternal Grandfather  Carl Schnitzler.  Then there seems to be some mention of a ship on the River Rhine (?).

There are 4 pages of the letter, so I don't need a full translation.  Many thanks

Leicestershire / Voting rights in Leicester in 1768
« on: Monday 20 June 22 13:11 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to pin down the year of birth for an ancestor, at the moment I know it is some time in the 1740's.  I have found that he voted in elections in 1768 to elect 2 burgesses to represent Leicester in parliament.

Am I right in assuming that the age to be eligible to vote was 21, which would mean he was born in 1747 or earlier?

What other qualifications were needed to be able to vote.  As far as I can find out he joined the army in 1768/69 and upon leaving was said to be a FWK, so probably not of any wealthy family.

Thanks in advance

Europe / Baptism in Leeuwarden
« on: Tuesday 16 November 21 23:06 GMT (UK)  »
Wilhelmina van Deventer is baptised on 26 January 1774.  Her parents are Christiaan van Deventer and Bathina Buchner.  Also attending is Elisabeth van Deventer, wife of Hendrik Schreuder.  Bathina has been witness to the baptisms of a couple of Elisabeth's children, so would it be a reasonable assumption that Christiaan and Elisabeth are related - possibly brother/sister?

But am I right in thinking that for this baptism, Elisabeth isn't the witness but is representing the named witness who is the Prince of Orange ?!

The baptism is at the bottom of the left page.

on page 174/335 of the file linked to this record, on the bottom of the right hand page, there is an entry regarding Aarnout Quik.  It also mentions Adrianus Quik and Cornelis Quik.  Can anyone please give a translation, or tell me what the document is about.  Thank you.

Europe / Possible Dutch town

Hi, can anyone work out where it was that Willem Mensing died.  I can work out the date, and that it was suicide, but the name of the place eludes me.  It could be in Indonesia, or in Netherlands but I am not sure.   Page 116 of 267.

Caithness / George Calder of Dunnet
« on: Thursday 21 January 21 19:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the death of George Calder, father of James Traill Calder.  He was at varying times a gardener, farmer and innkeeper in the Dunnet/Olrig/Castletown area.  I am hoping that it would give me his age at death.

I know he married his 2nd wife, Henrietta Bain in 1809, they had a son Marcus in 1810, and a 2nd son Peter Anderson in 1816.  In 1841 Henrietta is running a farm in Dunnet, and is a widow.

ScotlandsPeople have no deaths in the timeframe 1816-1841 for Caithness.  Are there any other sites that I can look at?

Thanks

Europe / Epidemic in 1783
« on: Friday 04 December 20 23:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have a family who all died within the space of 2 weeks in Ede, Gelderland, Netherlands in 1783.  On 5th September the first to die was the 3 week old baby, followed 5 days later by his two brothers, aged 2 and 4.  The father then died on 15th September and finally the poor mother on 17th September.

Was there an epidemic (cholera/smallpox) in that year which could have caused this tragedy?
