Lancashire / Help Needed finding James Andrew.
« on: Wednesday 13 July 11 10:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I'm struggling to find:-

James Andrew b1832, Dukinfield, Cheshire.

Have James with family on the 1841, 1851 & last of all on the 1861 censuses.
James & a brother possibly went to Australia gold prospecting, the brother coming back.

1861 Census, Moor lane, Openshaw, Lancashire.
Hannah Andrew b1811, Cotton Weaver, Lancashire, Flixton.
*James Andrew* b1832, Blacksmith Stoker, Cheshire, Dukinfield.
William Andrew b1834, Blacksmith Stoker, Cheshire, Dukinfield.
Sarah Andrew b1837, Cotton Weaver, Lancashire, Openshaw.
Alfred Andrew b1839, Iron Moulder, Lancashire, Openshaw.

William Andrew died between 1881 & 1891, last seen on the 1881 census with wife Milly & children Frederick 16, Alfred 7 & hannah 3.

Alfred Andrew is at different addresses around Openshaw, right up to 1901.

There is a James Andrew on the 1871 census in Portsea, Portsmouth with wife & son but, the son is 18, so he can't be the james I'm looking for.

Any help appreciated.

« on: Friday 08 July 11 11:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi fello Lancastrians,

Can anyone help me with the families that lived in the Crown Inn at the above address?

My 2x Grt Grandparents Alfred & Elizabeth Andrew were supposed to have owned it at one stage, got pictures of the Pub/Coach House. My Grt Grandmother was supposed to have been brought up there, Lilly Ann Andrew b1877, Openshaw & died Feb 1961, buried in Droylsden Cem.

Alfred was b1839, Openshaw, Iron Moulder, wife Elizabeth Andrew nee Kershaw b1839, Holligworth Lake, Littleborough, Rochdale.

Lilly Ann Andrew married Harry Walker b1870, at 5 South Witham Bank, Lincoln, Lincs, where the Lincoln Glory Hole is, died in Manchester 1932, married Lilly Ann in 1899 in Chorlton, Manchester.

The Pub/Coach House was opposite the junction of Slade lane on Stockport road.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated,

Lincolnshire / What month did 1851 Census take place.
« on: Saturday 30 April 11 20:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

Have a Isabella Otter on ST. Benedicts Lane, Lincoln, a few doors down from two of my Walker family, not there in 1861 but, her family are. Only one other Isabella Otter in Lincolnshire, transcribed wrong, down as Isabella Allen, from Bristol.

Seems a big coincidence that a Isabella Otter should marry a William Walker & sail to Australia. I do have a marriage,

William Walker
Isabella Otter
marry 18th May 1847 at West Deeping.

No info of where they are from & no info of who their fathers are.

The Ships List.
Ship:- Catherine, sailing Feb 1851 from Liverpool.
Passenger list has:-
William Walker, 26, Bourne.
Isabella Walker, nee Otter, wife.
Thomas Walker, 26, Bourne.
Charlott? Walker, wife.
Singles quarters, George Walker, 19, Bourne. George returns, gets married & goes back to Australia.

Can't find any info on William or Thomas coming from Bourne, west Deeping is close to Bourne, where the marriage took place & Bourne is only 30 miles, straight road to Lincoln.

Does anyone know exactly when the 1851 Census took place.  :-\

Regards,

Spatts.

Leicestershire / What Walkers do you have from Whitwick/Leicestershire.
« on: Wednesday 27 April 11 12:30 BST (UK)  »
 :) My Walkers.

William Walker abt 1796, Whitwick, married Harriet Brown in Loughborough.
Thomas Walker abt 1808, Whitwick, married Mary Maria Clifford in Lowesby.

Father of above noted as Anthony Walker abt 1758 on William's second marriage.

Does anyone else have Walkers from Whitwick or surrounding area??
