Lincolnshire / can you help me please
« on: Monday 31 July 17 17:42 BST (UK)  »
In 1872 the Suddaby family moved into 23 Newmarket Louth. The family was still there in 1925, is there any chance you could tell me who was living there when the last Suddaby left. I have the census and birth/death dates of the children/mothers but don't know how to find out after the 1925 how long they were there for.
Any help would be great or if you could tell me how i could find out my self that would also be good.
Thanks Sue X

Lincolnshire / What does this mean please
« on: Friday 07 September 12 16:29 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me again please?

I have a 1911 census on Ancestry for a Ethel May Shaw b.1901 Theddlethorpe,Lincs. on it it says shes a Aarce child, obviously mistranslated, or is it? and what does it mean, i know she's not their daughter.

1901 census for Ethel, the head is William Ward (M) and hes 67, and a Martha Shaw (S) and shes 38 housekeeper b.Sutton 1863, then 4 younger children including Ethel but it Says Daughter for the 4 children, so do you think it's saying daughter to William Ward or Martha Shaw. I know in the 1881 census Marthas in the Union Workhouse,Louth age 18, so lifes not very good for her, i wondered if she just shacked up with this William Ward so to speak.  I can't find Martha on the 1891 census.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Lincolnshire / St Nicholas Barracks, Lincoln
« on: Wednesday 30 May 12 18:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anyone know where St Nicholas Barracks,Lincoln was, (1881 Census) it housed the 30 Brigade Depot at the time.

I first thought it was where Lincolnshire Life is, but having been and asked, it's not. I was told by them it may have been somewhere near St Nicholas Church, ive looked on google and the only thing i can see that looks anything like is the Cadet Centre! (that looks as tho it's closed now) on Newport Road.

Any help most appreciated.

Lincolnshire / Death Certificate
« on: Thursday 05 April 12 14:51 BST (UK)  »

Hi all,I want to send off for a death cert for a Martha Hullett died 1864 at Newark, and buried at Bassingham. On Ancrstry it has her name as Ullett for her death, on FamilySearch for her burial it's Hullett, she died in confinement age 15 (so FamilySearch say's,)
Her daughter's birth (1864) Irine Martha Hullett is also transcribed as Ullett on Ancestry, but Hullett on FS for her bap (at her mum burial)
So which name do i put down when sending for the death cert.Is it likely to have Martha's parents on the cert, she was born 1848 at Bishop Norton.(parents..Abraham and Susanna Hullett)
Irine Martha Hullett was born at Newark, bap at Bassingham, and died at Sheffield all A/M/J 1864, i can't understand why she died at Sheffield when her grandmother Susanna was at Bassingham.
Thank's for any help you can provide.

Lincolnshire / Herbert (Allison) Kirman
« on: Tuesday 20 December 11 17:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, i wonder if you can help me once more.

I have a Herbert Kirman b 25 Feb 1880 Fulstow/Louth, in the 3 census up to his marriage in 1909 he has no middle name. but for his birth, marriage and death (1969) he has the middle name of Allison, the same for 1911 census

I can't find him on Freereg to see if i have the right person, his parents are James and Ann Elizabeth Kirman.

My problem starts with a Herbert Kirman (no middle name) going on 4 trips to Canada ect, bet 1924 to 1937 (from FindMyPast) his birth is also 1880.

I can't find out who is the correct Herbert Kirman, :-\ or are they the same.

Any help you can give will be a great help as i'm going round in circles at the mo.

I have his 6 siblings and 2 half siblings, it's just him ive got stuck on.

Thanks so much

Sue.

Lincolnshire / I'm Wondering !!
« on: Thursday 02 December 10 15:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,
I'm wondering if there's anyone round Lincoln with a "reader ticket"who can do a Electoral Register look up for me at the library {when the snow stop's of course}
I've been in touch with the library and can't for the life of me understand their website,or the download for the application form {sorry, silver surfer and all that} so there's no way i can send off for it!
If anyone can, i will appreciate it very much. It's for 1945 and will give the address if someone can help.
Thankyou
Sue

Canada / Info on Suddaby
« on: Saturday 20 February 10 18:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,
This is my first post and not quite sure if i'm doing it wright, but here goes !!
I have a William Suddaby who went to canada on the ship Virginnian, arrived at Halifax,Nova Scotia 18th Nov 1910 from Liverpool England. Say's he's going to farm.
In the 1911 Canada census he's at Battleford Sask age 18, living with and employed by Peter Roseland and family
1916 he's still at Battleford age 23 but is "head" also Alice M Hall is on the census.
What i would love to know, did he marry, any children and when did he die, i have a death date that may be him, 1987 at Victoria age 93 (which fits with his birth date)
He was born at Sculcoats,Yorkshire,England. 1893.
In 1913 his sister Laura (transcribed as Suddaly) went to join him. The ship Laurentic, arrived at Quebec 14th June 1913 from Liverpool (a nurce going to brother in Marshall Sask) She married bet 1913 and 1916 to a Clarence Penronley (he emigrated in 1908 from Eng) i have her family on the 1916 Canadian census but would also like to know what happend to them. Laura was born at Waltham,Lincolnshire,England 1881
Any info you can give me will be great, and i hope i haven't asked to many questions.
Regards Sue :'(
