Good Afternoon Everyone

George Robertson b 1796 Hawick married Isabella Scott and had 5 children
William b 1838 Jedburgh
James b 1841 Jedburgh who then married Mary Robison 1861 Jedburgh
George b 1842 Jedburgh
Margaret b 1845 Jedburgh who I believe married Peter Geggie
Jessie b 1847 Jedburgh who I believe married William Wood

George then married Isabella Wood in 1856 Jedburgh and they had 3 children
Robert b 1858 Jedburgh
Mary b 1859 Jedburgh
John b 1861 Jedburgh

I have found them on the 1851 and 1861 census, but I cannot find them in 1871.
George I believe dies in 1878 Jedburgh.
George's occupation is given in one form or another as being a Court Sheriff / Messenger at arms.

If anyone can help fill in the missing pieces, 1871 census, marriage to Isabella Scott and when Isabella Scott dies I would be most grateful.

Thank you in advance

William who should be aged 14 I cannot find
James who should be 13 I cannot find, I do pick him up again in 1871 as a boarder aged 22 living in Grieve Street, he goes on to marry Bridget Hoggan. ( In a previous post everyone helped sort this family out for me).  I can only find a birth for the year 1840, which does not tie in with his death certificate in 1940 which gives his age as 97, but all the other details fit.

Any help would be most gratefully received on the where the missing children are and especially sorting out Robert Brown Wilson b 1835 and Brown Wilson b 1845, if they are the same people why would they be on the same census with different names and dates of birth.

Lincolnshire / John Taylor & Mildred
« on: Friday 10 November 17 19:56 GMT (UK)  »
Good Evening

I am looking for a marriage for John Taylor born 1796 Colsterworth Louth to a female called Mildred.

In the 1851 Census John is a carpenter aged 55, and Mildred is aged 49 Edward St Louth. They had 1 daughter Caroline that I know was baptised 1834 Louth and there are possibly 3 other children Frances, William and John.

I thought I had found them in the 1841 Census aged 45 and 39 Gospel Gate Louth ( cant for the life of me find it now ) I was trying to double check that Mildred was listed as Mildred. The reason for checking was I was thinking Caroline had married a William Cole 1855 Louth, all was progressing lovely till 1871 Census a mother is listed and called Mary ???.

Which then brings me to not being able to find either John or Mildred in 1861 Census.

Any ideas ......please

Many Thanks

Lincolnshire / Henry James Taylor & Mary Jane Askey
« on: Friday 10 November 17 17:05 GMT (UK)  »
Good Evening

I am hoping someone may recognise the family and help with details please.

Henry James Taylor born 1853 Louth (son of John Taylor and Anna Maria Coe) married Mary Jane Askey born 1849 Louth  (daughter of Joseph Askey and Harriet Arliss)  between 1871 and 1881.
They had the following children George Albert  born Louth 1876 (I have most of George's line), Fred born Louth 1877, Henry James born Louth 1879 (who I believe married a girl called Rose and had a boy called Henry James 1911), Florence born Sleaford 1880, Anne Elizabeth born Sleaford 1884 (married Herbert France) and Edith born Sleaford 1886.

I am unable to find  marriage details for Henry who married Rose, I cannot find Florence after the 1881 Census and for Edith I cannot find any trace after 1901 Census. Fred disappears for the 1901 Census and turns up in Earlsheaton in 1911 living with his sister Annie (who is now married to Herbert.

Any help with the missing details will most welcome.
Many Thanks

Good Evening Everyone

I am hoping someone will be able to help finding Matthew Middlemist born about 1840 in Jedburgh. I can find him in the 1851 census with his parents in Jedburgh. He next surfaces in 1862 for Desertion - Regimental number 956 / Military Corps 37th Foot. He then appears to be in Prison in 1867 listed as a Shoemaker. The prison location is given as Dalkeith. Matthew then marries an Elizabeth Crow 1867 St Giles, his occupation is again shoemaker, the final appearance is his death in St Andrews in 1879. I have attached his cause of death as I am struggling to read it. I believe that there were two children - Isabella 1868 Edinburgh and Matthew George 1871 Edinburgh.

Any help with finding the family would be gratefully received.
