Right i was telling my partner about this site , and he said he would like to know more about his grandad again he has tried looking on the internet but came up with notihing , so can any one help ?? all we have on him is that his name  was Keith durn and he joined the RAF , in his obituary it says he wa part of the dam busters and was mentioned in dispatches , we have found a keith dunn , could this of been a spelling mistake on there part ??

I have got a bit of paperwork that my grandad put together of my great grandad , and i have been trying to find his name on a few military sites but im having a lot of trouble. so can any one please help , here is what s written on the paperwork i cant ask my grandad as he has just recently passed away .

this next part i dont understand . HO 175 of 1933 £5.00 paid 31.8.1937  W.O. CL.2  What does it mean ?

1939/45 defence medal  . Major.
1939/45 war medal & oak leaf ( mention in despatches ).
George VI for meritorious service .

So please can any one help or point me in the right direction . i would be so grateful .

Hello all , found this site by chance trying to find about about family , so thought ide give it a go as it looked a really intresting site .

Any way im trying to trace my grandfather , he was in birmingam around 1952 - 1953 , he was about 20 - 21 we think at the time , he met my nan betty or bettsy as she was also called , he told her he was from belfast they were together about a year then she fell pregnant , when told that he was going to be a father he left and friends later told my nan he had gone back to ireland to join the army ,  dont know if he ever did go back , my nan later gave up my mother for adoption , traced my nan last year but not very helpfull, so im really stuck now as i dont know where to start looking for somone that ive only got a name on so can any one help ??
