Other Countries / Look up in India please
« on: Saturday 20 March 10 20:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

My great grandfather was Richard and his first wife was Gertrude Mary.  Their surname after marriage was Woods.  They married in Bombay India and I have their marriage cert.  Their first child was born in 1907 and Richard wife died in childbirth.  The child (a daughter) was named after the mother and was therefore was also called Gertrude Mary Woods.

The problem I have and would like help with is that I am unable to find refs to order the death and birth certs for both Gertrude's.  I have searched FIBIS (website), and findmypast but have come up with nothing.

If anyone visits the British India Library I would be grateful if you could look this information up for me.  I have everything about Gertrude Mary Woods (jnr), even pictures, her 3 marriage certs and her death cert. and I would dearly love to have her birth cert and the death cert of her mum.

Many Thanks

I would be grateful if anyone could try and improve these special pictures for me.  The actual pictures was in a frame behind glass and I used my mobile to take a photo of it.  You will see reflection in both photos which I would like removed.

The people in the picture are my Great Grandparents Woods.

Many Thanks

Cheshire / Port Sunlight - Help needed please
« on: Tuesday 02 June 09 23:06 BST (UK)  »
My Woods Great Grandfather lived at Port Sunlight when my Grandmother was born. He died in 1933. On his death cert it states he was a Wagon Attendant at the Soap Factory. This is the famous Soap Factory set up by Lord Leverhulme.

I found a website about Port Sunlight Village and discovered there is a museum there. I have emailed them asking if they have any records of his employment at the Soap Factory. Their reply was no however they did find his obituary which was in the Port Sunlight News. I have been informed by the lady at the Museum that the obituary was really sad, he wife died about a week after him leaving 7 children. My nan was only 13 at this time. I have no idea who brought her up.

If anyone is in the area or who is able to visit the Museum for me to collect a copy of the obituary and then forward it to me I would be extremely grateful.

If you are able to help me please pm me for further information.

Many Thanks
