Warwickshire / Hopetons
« on: Monday 08 February 10 12:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am tying to find out more details about my Great Grandmother Hannah Hopeton and her family.  Tati has been a great help but need some more info.  I am trying to trace the children of George Redvers D Hopton and Hilda Collins.  They were born in Birmingham, Rowley Regis and Kingswinford.  Names are Jean E. Hopeton (1932) Robrt C. Hopeton (1937) and John Hopeton (1939) .
Also Hannahs Grandparents worked for Lord Lawley Baron Wenlock at Esrick Estate and then moved to Scotland and were emplyed at Hoptoun House.  If anybody can find any details on how I can find records  for these places I would be most interested.
Many thanks.

Warwickshire / Hopton Family of Birmingham details
« on: Tuesday 02 February 10 11:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there
I am furthering my research into the Hopton/Hopeton side of my family and my Gret Grandmothers family.  My Great Grandmother was Hannah Hopeton born 1887 in Scotland to John and Flora Hopton.  (Flora later remarried and became Glass but I cannot find any info on that either.  Any help ther would be geat as well!!)Hannah had 5 siblings, Eglah born 1889 Scotland, John born 1891, Flora born 1892, George born 1900 and Alice born 1897 - the latter all born in Birmingham.
Wonder if anybody has any information on the marriages and children of my Great Grandmothers siblings John, Flora and George.  The Hopetons came to New Zealand in 1921 but only Hannah and Alice came out and have no idea what became of the others. Would really appreciate any help.  Many thanks.

Galway / Murphys to New Zealand from Galway
« on: Monday 25 January 10 11:28 GMT (UK)  »
;)Hi there.  I am from New Zealand and I am trying to trace the Murphys from Galway.  Know this is a huge task but am looking for Michael John Murphy - born in Galway abt 1848.  She married Isabella Stewart - born Ireland abt 1850.They had children John,Florence, Wiliam,Emily, Alfred, Charles and Maude.
Michaels parents were John Murphy and Bidella Smith.  I cannot find any information on exactly where they lived or what their occupations where while in Galway.  Understand they were farm workers although some records state Michael was a commercial traveller.  Michael is my Great Great Grandfather and I am keen to learn more about the Irish roots of my family.
Hoping somebody can help me.
Many thanks.

« on: Saturday 23 January 10 12:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there
I am trying to find information on schools attended by my Grandmother  Phyllis May Jackson between 1918 and 1921 in Birmingham.  Also for her sibling, Rose, Richard, Eunice and Rita.  They came to New Zealnd in 1921 and their father had an upholsters business in Long Acre, Nechelles.
Many thanks
