Thank you so much - I had taken a guess that the first one could be "Long" on one of the columns but on the others it didn't look like it - I read the Tower as Lower so nearly there ha ha  - THANKYOU :)

Hi,

I have found my great great Uncles birth details and, although I know the city was Derry, I am struggling to decipher the actual address - I think it's number 22 but cannot fathom out what the address is?

Any help would be wonderful!

TIA

Michelle

Re Daniel's death (proving difficult to find an obvious one in Ireland!)
If your William and Annie Ward are the couple in Govan in 1901 with son Daniel born Ireland, in RD Hutchesontown, then there might be a death possibilty on ScotlandsPeople
1898, Hutchesontown, ref 644/11 1275, Daniel Connor, age 72

YES, that is them - Their eldest daughter is also a Mary but I don't think she is listed on this particular census - and I have subscribed to Scotlands People, with most of them on all sides flocking over to Glasgow, so I shall check that ref out re Daniel!  Thank you JonW - feeling a lot more positive tbh - after so many years of looking for Oconnors/Wards/Dorans etc in Ireland I was about ready to give up and just decided they must have been a wee bit guarded about their details and had given false names whenever anything official came up LOL - I still wouldn't put it past them ha ha

OH WOW!!! Thank you soooo so much - I have been hunting for years for any connection with Wards and Barker - there is a marriage which took place in England but I think, from memory, the dates were completely wrong!  Oh I shall take a look at all this info over the weekend!  I did find an O'Kane/O'Connor marriage at one point - Billy Kanes were in each generation!  and I think I also came across a birth but the names listed were as though they were from the previous generation eg) as though the grandparents were listed as the parents!  I shall have to go hunting again for that record methinks!

Thank you all so very much for your time and help!  This info, I have a feeling, will be what brings the brick wall a little lower!    ;D ;D ;D ;D

This might be one to look at:

Jane Connor b 1877 with parents Daniel Connor and Mary Mason   :-\

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1877/03010/2103264.pdf

There is a marriage for Jane Connor with father Daniel but it is 1917
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1917/09752/5539227.pdf

I found other children to this couple and realised that this Daniel would be too young.
Here is that marriage in 1876

So he is not your Daniel, sadly.

Aw, no worries, thank you so very much for taking time to have a look for me though!  I will get to the bottom of them - the Wards/O'Connors do seem to have more records, albeit sporadic ones, than t'other side lol

Sorry, just missed your later posts - I think that Annie Connor had a sister Mary-Anne and there is a link to the O'Kanes, I will have to root out the snippet I found re that which could add more clues!  William and Annie, like the other side of my Irish family - Dorans and Kerrs, all came across at some point prior to 1891 to Glasgow but one brother from Doran side came to England - I think this is what makes me nervy - did their parents come across or stay put lol - 11 Blondes and 11 Oranges??? Love Island?? Sounds most intriguing lol

Thanks so much Hallmark - I have searched on the census returns although not on the site you have kindly supplied the link for - usually, I get rerouted to that site from Ancestry!  I have searched the censuses from 1901 and, on occasion, 1911 on FindMyPast/Ancestry and not come across anything that ties up with the info I have - eg, Daniel Connor/O'Connor, Londonderry - one in 1901 has different family names I know nothing of, although age could be correct whereas the one in 1911 is a young boy so not the Daniel I am seeking - I think William Ward just turned up so many I got cross eyed at my laptop lol - but I shall take another look using the site you've linked!  You just never know!  The only thing I am fairly certain of is that my DNA done via Ancestry does link me strongly in Donegal and Derry - no links further South despite whispers that Wexford and Dublin focussed in the tree!

Thanks for the links and replying - yes, I had ascertained that the only real chance I have is locating the parish records, if any still exist, (I have got lucky with this a couple of times in the past)....or distant relatives connect with me at some point in the future lol.

And thank you for the record also - I did have this on an old laptop and I cannot find it again for love nor money!

Thanks again,

Michelle
