Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Birth Certificate Enforcement

Hello

Just to add that on my grand parents marriage certificate, there are 5 such amendments. Bride and groom had the same surname Bevan - prior to their marriage in 1917

The names of the Fathers were wrongly attributed, as were their status (alive or deceased) and occupations.

The family used to joke that maybe the poor Registrar ended up marrying himself ;D ;D ;D

Hi Rollwrong

Yes, I believe my connection is through Elizabeth being Valentines daughter.

Also a bit of a mystery is Diana Davies, mother of Valentine and Charles.

I seem to remember being told that Diana & her husband Mr Hughes - cant recall his name ??? ??? were married in a Catholic church. Wonder if this is true?

Do you have any info on this?

Hello Rollwrong

Sorry to say that I have not made any advances on whatever happened to Maria. I understand there is a death for a Maria Hughes in Monmouth in 1842 but I have not confirmed it is this Maria.

Also, I understand that Valentine may have been married before he married Maria but have not discovered who his first wife may have been. I think he was in his late thirties when he married Maria - which strikes me as as rather late on for a first marriage.

So, can anyone find out if if he was married prior to marrying Maria? and if so - who was his first wife

Any help greatly appreciated

Hello Eli2

Do you have an address for Stefan at the time of his death?

If so, could you PM it to me?

We may then be able to find out at which Church the funeral took place.

Hello again

Just to add that the cemetery is not in sections as such in that Catholic graves maybe alongside non Catholic ones and so on.

I think the cemetery was opened in the 1850's in response to a cholera epidemic.

I was last there about 2 years ago and it looked very full.
