World War One / Irish Brigade Roll of Honour
« on: Wednesday 07 December 11 14:53 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know where the Irish Brigade Roll of Honour is kept?   My grandfather, David Cochrane, was Mentioned in Despatches during WW1.   I have a certificate which says his name and deed are recorded in the Irish Brigade's Roll of Honour.   I would really like to find out what he did.

Hello

We are related ............. my great grandmother was Sarah Jane Cunningham and her brother was John Cunningham the father of David Brown Cunningham.   Harry Wesley Smith is the son of Ada and they did eventually settle in Australia.   Unfortunately the moderator has removed some of you post because it mentioned living people.    When you have 3 posts I can send you a personal message as I would like to know the information that you sent and I have information that may be of interest to you.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

I have seen the surname spelt both ways - which does make it confusing.    Thank you for taking the trouble to reply.

I dont have much more information, but this is what I do have.

James Moodie and Ann McAulley had 3 children:
James born 1844 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire
Helen born 1847 in Cambusnethan
William born 1849 in Cambusnethan
1851 Census shows them living at 17 Furnace Row, Newmains, Cambusnethan.
James occupation is given as Furnaceman.
James may have died in Glasgow in 1868 - this I am not sure about.
Ann  McAulley died 17th November 1891 in 17 Furnace Row, Newmains
Ann's parents were Alexander and Ann McAulley

I know nothing more of James Moodie (born 1844)
William Moodie (born 1849) had a son William John Moodie born 1869
Helen Moodie (born 1847) married a Samuel Murdoch in 1865 and they had a son William Murdoch born 1868.    The family lived in 17 Furnace Row, Newmains.   Samuel died before 1878.
Helen then married Hugh Campbell (born 1835 in Port Glasgow) in 1878 in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.  They had 3 children:  Ann 1878, Hugh 1881, Helen 1885.   The family still lived at 17 Furnace Row in Newmains.   Hugh Campbell (1835) died there in 1899.

I did not think I had that much information!!!   I hope this helps.

Kent / Roberts Family of Frindsbury/Strood
« on: Friday 16 July 10 12:17 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone researching the Roberts Family of Frindsbury/Strood?   I am looking for the marriage of William Roberts to Mildred about 1800.     Their son William was born in Frindsbury in 1803.   I have looked on cityark at the surrounding parishes but with no success.    Has anyone have them in their tree?
