I am posting the image of the Form 30a...might be useful.

The front of the form is image 4362.  The "back" of the form is the preceding image...4361.   The "back" says that he was Detained ...and I can't quite make out the rest.  There are a couple of words/ Ss and then the number 8930.

There is a death for William Arnott Norton June 8, 1932 Cobalt, Ontario.  Age 79.  Born Newmarket, Ont. with father William (b. Scotland) and mother Mary Arnott (b. Newcastle, Ont).  Informant was daughter T. Olive Mitchell.

Is this your William and are we therefore searching the Newmarket, Ontario area for traces of his father?  Your information is that the father was born England and this persons father shows a birthplace of Scotland.

Obituary for William Arnott Norton in the Globe and Mail newspaper on 13 Jun 1932, page 10.  It says from Cobalt, Ontario on June 12....  William Arnott Norton died at his home on Cobalt Street.  It says he was a resident of northern Ontario for 22 years - most of that time in Elk Lake.  He had been in failing health for some time and had been confined to his home for 6 months.  He was born in Newcastle, Ontario 79 years ago, was of Scottish descent and had been a farmer in his earlier years.  For some years, he lived near Chatham, then moved to Toronto. He came north to Elk Lake in 1910.    Two year ago, he came to Cobalt.  He is survived by his widow (she isn't named in the obituary), his son Harold, of Elk Lake, and his daughter Mrs Mitchell, wife of George Mitchell K.C. of Cobalt.   (K C means Kings Counsel... he would have been a lawyer).

Also - Toronto Star 1927, Sept 13, page 9

There is an article about a series of meetings at the Britten Memorial Spiritualist Church on Dovercourt.  At the end of the article, it says that the Pastor of the Church is M. S. Maguire.
The article says that there have been a series of meetings over a week...the final meeting involved "four women, announced as the world's greatest mediums"...a sťance was held.

I found another article about the church in the paper... from 1948.  It was still active on Dovercourt and there was a "multi circle sťance" held there - to mark the 100th anniversary of the modern spiritualist movement.  One man says he was talking to Arthur Conan Doyle (who had died in 1930)!!

I found a couple of other interesting references to her in the Toronto Star.

3 Nov 1926, Page 4.  She has written a letter to the editor of the support of old age pension legislation.

13 Nov 1924, page 3.  There is an article about her asking for relief re: forclosure against her church on Dovercourt.

This is interesting... Toronto Star, 16 March 1928, page 3.

It says the grand jury returned a true bill in the case of Mrs Martha Stier McGuire, spiritualist, on a charge of unlawfully undertaking to tell fortunes.

Hi again,

Johan Heinrich seems to have changed his name to John Henry while he was living in Ontario.   Here is his burial record from Prospect Cemetery, 1922

and his death record

These show that his wife was Martha and she lived at 881 Dovercourt.
