Flintshire Lookup Requests / Re: Burials in the parish of Hope in Flintshire

Hi,

I would agree with everyone who says St. Cynfarch.   I have a couple of relatives listed within the previous few pages of the same "Hope" burial register - and I have them in St. Cynfarch (another family researcher has seen the graves).

Also - FreeReg says the deaths of your John and Edward Griffiths are recorded in the St. Cynfarch register.

I wonder if the Archives of Ontario, or the Toronto Archives might have some information about the artwork created by Grip Ltd?

Hi Lisa,

There isn't a photo to go with the costume.   Sorry.   He is just listed as one of the prize winners, with the name of his character.

There is a photo for the aeroplane racers.   It isn't super clear, but that is the only photo I found.

Hello,

So far, I haven't found anything about his artwork.   This is what I found for Fred or F Ibbotson.  Some of these might refer to your Frederick??

1902, on the McCaul School football team
1906, Central YMCA boys football club - secretary treasurer F. Ibbotson
1907, carnival at a roller rink - Fred Ibbotson was a "Happy Hooligan", won a prize
1920, usher at wedding of Clementia Champion and William Whiteside
1921 and 1922, Toronto Dancing Club dinner dance
1924, Rani Ghar Grotto initiation.  Fred Ibbotson is on the Executive Committee
1926, amateur baseball, Osler team
1930, aeroplane racing - Fred Ibbotson listed.

Thank you very much, RunKitty.  I tried various search terms and couldn’t find any results.

Mr. Ibbotson passed away before my birth so I never had the chance to know him.  The essay fits with what I was told about him; he was an intelligent, knowledgeable man.  Apparently, he passed on to family his passion for learning.

Hi Lisa,

Glad I was able to find it.   I think I used the search terms Ibbotson and Henty (together) :)

Hi Jan,

If the people you are researching are not longer living, it is OK to post their names... if you want to.

The Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail newspaper are available online, but I am not sure if there is a free way to search them.   I think newspapers.com has the Star in its collection.  The Toronto Public Library, and many other libraries in Canada have access to the Star and Globe databases.   Depending on where you are, you may have access through your own library.

Many of us here do have access to the databases.  If you are able to post anything about the accident - leaving out names of people who are currently living - that would be helpful.   Otherwise, you can contact me by PM and I will see what I can find for you.   :)
