Limerick / Dickson/Griffin
« on: Wednesday 22 September 10 09:13 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for more information regarding my Great Great Grandfather Samuel Dickson.  I know he was born in Limerick around 1840, came to England probably between 1861 and 1866 (believe he married a Mary Griffen, also from Limerick, b. 1843 in Jul-Sep 1866, East london).  Samuel and his wife were tailors.  Samuel died in 1915 in shoreditch.  Has anyone any information regarding the Dicksons/Griffens in Limerick?

Thanks
Simon

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Major John Lambert -descendents
« on: Monday 01 May 06 11:31 BST (UK)  »
Trying to trace back my family roots I have managed to trace back to a Henry Lambert born in Wimbledon in 1789, but not having much luck in the parish records before then although I found 1 more Lambert,  born in 1695 (all Lamberts in my tree have lived in Wimbledon).  I then found some information relating to Major General John Lambert, who was a major player in the Civil War, which described how he spent a considerable amount of time in Wimbledon (he owned Wimbledon House).  During the restoration, after a number of escapades, John Lambert was tried for high treason, lost his estates and sentenced to imprisonment.  He and his wife had ten children; I have found information that suggests that his wife and three children were allowed by the King to set up house in Guernsey, where he was imprisoned for a time, but I cannot find any reference to the rest of the children.  I am wondering whether it is possible that one or more of his children decided to stay in Wimbledon and the line progressed from there?

Does anyone have any further information of John  Lamberts descendants?  Failing that, does anyone have information on any Lamberts in Wimbledon from before 1780?

Many Thanks

Simon

Hi,

Can anyone do a  lookup for me for William Lambert and family of Wimbledon Surrey?  In 1871 he was living with his wife Mary (William age 60, Mary 59) at South Road, RG10 857.  Son James (26) and daughter Pamela Jane (20).  I am interested in any other family members.

I am also interested in his mother and father (Sarah and Robert, who was born around 1783) who may be on the 1841 census??

Many thanks

Simon

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Wimbledon Mystery: Lambert/Ainsworth
« on: Monday 28 March 05 16:47 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what happened to William John Ainsworth born in 1880 in Wimbledon. In the 1881 Census he is living in Wimbledon with his mother Pamela Jane Ainsworth (nee lambert) and Stepfather William Ainsworth. Also at that address is William Lambert, Pamela's son. In 1891 he is still there, as William J. In the 1901 Census, William Lambert is now William Ainsworth (back from the army) and William J Ainsworth is nowhere to be seen (and I cannot find him in the death records between 1891 and 1901). Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.
