I'm hoping someone can help finding a death record. Lucille Blampied, nee Smith born in London in 1893, married Snowdon Denis Blampied on Jersey in December 1917 and died sometime between 1928 and 1939. They had four children, two I am aware of - Esme Norah and Naomi Ruth and it's possible that Lucille died soon after Naomi was born in 1928. I have searched Ancestry and Jerrypedia for a death record but can't find one. If anyone has a subscription to the Jersey Archives, I would be very grateful if they could have a look to see if she appears in the Civil BMD registers there.

Thank you in advance.

I wonder if anyone could tell me whether records of marriage licences issued for the Liverpool area exist.  I'm trying to trace more information on the marriage of James Faggetter and Mary Hughes who were married on 22nd September 1836 by licence in St David's Chapelry, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool.  I've tried searching on Ancestry and FindMyPast as well as a wider search on the net, but so far I can't see if these records exist, and if they do, where they might be located.

I've seen the entry in the parish register but I was hoping that the licence may give me another few snippets of information.  James was a Queen's Messenger and seems to have travelled all over the country so it has been a bit of a job to track his movements!  He was born in Bristol, married for the first time in Liverpool, married for the second time and died in London.

Do you know his parents names at all?  I will have a little look and see what I can find.  Think I can see him on the 1901/11 censuses in Swansea as you say, married to Margaret.

In addition, a sibling of this William J Johnson is a Harry Clitherow Johnson who was born in 1871, again transcribed as Nottoway, in the 1891 census detailed above.  There is a baptism record for a Harry C Johnson, 11 June 1871 at St John's Holloway, son of Reuben and Sarah.  So if it is the right family, then they are definitely in the Tottenham/Holloway area and not in the US at the right time.

I had seen that and you're right, it probably is the best way forward.  I was just posting on the off chance that someone may be going there anyway.  Its a real pain living miles from London sometimes - damn my parents for shipping us all down to the rural outreaches of England when all my roots are the other end of the country!

I reckon its a mistranscription - looking closely at it looks like Holloway, not Nottoway.  Both his parents are born in London and his siblings are all born in Tottenham. I would think it was unlikely they all shipped out to the US and were back again within 2 years for the birth of the rest of the children. St Mary's is a parish in Holloway/Islington which concurs with the rest of the place of birth.
