Hi, I recently knocked down a brickwall discovering that my Joseph Risbridger, gentleman of Capel and Ockley, Surrey moved to London c. 1730 and was buried (as Joseph Resbridge) at St.Katherine's church 27/3/1740. I am wondering if he left a will and understand that LMA has indexes to the wills and administrationsfrom the Royal Peculiar Court of St.Katherine by the Tower 1698-1804 as well as the wills themselves. If anyone is going to the LMA and has time I would be very grateful if you could check the years around 1740. If there is a will I will order it from LMA. Thanks. Phillipa

Thanks very much for all the info on James Silk of Hatherop. He could very well be the same person as my James Silk bp Bath 1801 and resident Mangotsfield Gloucestershire 1820. Am wondering if the marriage which i saw on Public Trees 26/12/1825 Shrivenham, Berks, James Silk to Ann Heath might reveal anything of relevance? Grateful if anyone has access.

Best regards
Phillipa.

James Silk my 3 times great grandfather was bp Walcot, Bath, Somerset 1801. I find him again in 1819 witnessing the marriage of his cousin Robert Silk in Westerleigh, Gloucestershire. Same year
James married Hannah Simmons in Wickwar, Gloucestershire and bp son Jeremiah 1820 Westerleigh. After that he disappears. Many public trees on Anc have James marrying Ann Heath in Shrivenham, Berkshire 26/12/1825 and setting up home in Hatherop, Gloucestershire, where he died 1845. Can someone kindly do a lookup for me please in case there are any hidden clues? Thanks,Phillipa

Just to clarify - in Spanish the letter J is pronounced as an H. This would explain why Meljado has become Melhado in the Jamaican records.

Hi, I think that May or Mollie were often nicknames for people baptised as Mary. I have three individuals on my Brooker tree born late 1800s/early 1900s which prove this.

Hi, further to the info about marriages and burials of the Robert family at St. Mary's church Luton in the late 18th early 19th centuries would be grateful for a lookup of the baptisms particularly to see if parents John (a farmer) and Mary Roberts's abode was Thrales End in each case. The baptisms are John 10/6/1763, Mary 19/5/1765, Hannah 15/11/1767 and Ann 3/6/1770. I already have William 6/3/1774 which states Thrales End.

Many thanks.

Phillipa

Thanks for that John I will contact Beds Archives. These are the first ancestors I have researched in Beds. Will look at the catalogue to see if I can spot any more docs. I am wondering whether Thrales End at that period was a hamlet or just Thrales End Farm?

Best regards
Phillipa
