Hi Leon
Just wondering if you worked out a connection for the two Robert Lattas in Sydney. I thought maybe they might be cousins?? Have you found emigration or any additional information.

Hi Ambly
That should have been William Goudie Latta as Robert's son. I don't know if Goudie has a connection to anyone in the family.

Hi Ambly
Thanks for your quick reply. Yes I have a copy of Robert Latta's death cetificate. The death notice in The Sydney Morning Herald – Saturday 12 September 1874 states Robert was a native of Dumbarton. His eldest son was William Gondie Latta which is on the tombstone of Robert, wife Emily and son William at Rookwood Cemetery. I was hoping to find out about his birth and immigration.

Hi
I am researching a Robert Latta from Dumbarton born about 1816 who emmigrated to Australia and married Emily Sarah Williams in 1844. Does anyone have anything about this Robert - birth information or emmigration details. He was a shipwright.

There is a notice SMH on Wednesday 2nd January 1878 refering to father Thomas. There was also a notice Thursday 3rd January which doesn't mention the father.

Thanks for helping. Patrick's death was in NSW number 8489 on 22nd July 1904. Maybe his parents didn't come to Australia??? although newspaper notice indicates they did.

Can anyone help me find arrival of Thomas Keogh and son Patrick in Australia? I have a marriage certificate for Patrick Keogh and Margaret Miller in 1877 in Sydney. I have a notice from The Sydney Morning Herald for that marriage stating Patrick was the second son of Thomas from Melbourne. I have death certificate for Patrick 1904 stating father Thomas and mother Mary Kenane. From this it appears Patrick was from Tipperary and arrived in Australia about 1863 possibly on the Marco Polo but that doesn't tie in with his father living in Melbourne. Patrick's death certificate states 10 years in Victoria and 31 years in NSW. Can't find the connection or arrival of Thomas.

Thanks for all the information and for replying so soon. I am relatively new to ancestry searching and am only just finding out about a lot of our ancestors. My husband descended from Jemima Beard. She married Edward Court (second marriage) and and my husbands grandmother was Mona Court. I am still searching for details on them. Are you from the same family? In May we are going to Armidale to try and find out more from the historical society. I was told Edward Court disappeared and Jemima re married. Would appreciate any other info you may have on these family members.

Looking for more information on Catherine Ashman. She was my husbands great great grandmother and lived in the Armidale district.
