Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Re: John Lane- Marriage- 1848- Brinkley.

Thanks David & Rosie,

I did find the record on FindMyPast but didn't realise that it was for banns only. (Told you I'm new at this).

It still doesn't explain why Mary Ann says her place of birth is Little Bradley, Suffolk, on her census entry.
John died in 1856 and I've recently found Mary Ann on the 1861 cesus - married to a John Williams. I know it's her as she has her children, William & Mary Ann, with her.

I did at one point think that she had been married before to William Rolinson and that the 'nephew' on the 1851 census was their son. Hence the maiden name Kefford. But now I'm not too sure.

As I said I'm very confused. Spelling for the surname Rolinson seems to change alot.

I'll just have to keep at it. It's difficult as I live outside the UK.

Thanks again for the input.

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / John Lane- Marriage- 1848- Brinkley.

Hello,

I'm quite new to all this, so excuse me if I don't go about things in the right way.

I'm researching my LANE ancestors in Cambridgeshire and am finding it difficult as there are so many with the same name.
This query concerns the wife of John LANE, he was born 1823 Brinkley.
I've found a likley marriage, 30th April 1848, Brinkley, to Mary Ann Rolinson of Little Bardfield, Essex. But no details of the couple's age or parents.
On the 1851 census, John is living at The Plough Public House, Burrough Green. His wife's place of birth is Little Bradley, Suffolk. She is also 12 years older than John - could she have been married before?

I'm rather confused.
If there's a chance that someone could have a look at the marriage certificate and find out who their fathers are perhaps that will help.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
