Interest and it gives the whole thing a kind of context and understanding if your still local. If that makes sense?

Jean,

I found this on  The Great War Forum.............note the dates!

http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=162374&st=0&p=1576492&hl=loyals&fromsearch=1&#entry1576492

I will have a poke about later in some of my material and try to answer the question you posed about the 7th being out of the line.

Interesting......so do you think there could be more info to be had?

I got the copies of the Farnworth cuttings from the nice ladies at the Little Lever library but not all the 'my Loyals' were there, hopefully the Bolton papers may have the missing ones?

I will have a look at the papers you have suggested, but I am not sure the names got that far as the Farnworth Journal picked most if not all the deaths.

Thanks for your top tips !!

So far I have done the CWGC and local papers.......I have done the church (not much there!!).....Not totally interested in the family/siblings slant.

More interested in the whole military side of life......Enlistment dates/places etc......Where they may have fought and died...........etc.....

I am well aware that there isn't always a great deal of info about the ordinary Tommy in War Diaries but I am keeping my fingers x'd for more info.

jds,

Thanks for that. I currently have a good line into RHQ Queen's Lancashire at Preston that should pay dividends next week.

I was just looking for good net links that may give me other info.

I may stretch the 'pocket money' to cover the £3.50 at some point......if required.
