Annette & Monica ....
Yes, it would seem certain I have been given incorrect information, regarding Francis. Some of the (now) obvious information shows I am incorrect that Francis is my line. I need to start again, using the valid info I already have re: James & Robert Sr, along with the info you both have shared with me!!
Very frustrating when I can't find the documents needed and be able to actually see them (death certs, marriage certs, etc).
Need to start over with a clear mind!!    ???

Thanks again!
TariAnn

Thanks for the replies, but I believe my dates for Francis are certain. I have them from records of my 3rd great grandfather, James Love.

I believe my 4th great grandfather to be Francis Love born 21 Apr 1772 Stevenston, Ayrshire; died 14 Jul 1860 Stevenson, Ayrshire. He married Agnes Cockburn born 12 Sep 1784 Dundonald, Ayrshire; died 15 Mar 1867 Stevenston, Ayrshire.
His son, my 3rd great grandfather, Robert Love Sr, was born 1816 Glasgow, Lanarkshire; died 1858 Honolulu, Hawaii. Married Margaret Watt born 1816 Lanarkhire; died 1855 Honolulu, Hawaii.
I am looking for more information on Francis Love please. Parents? Siblings? Anything will help!

Thank you!
TariAnn

Very interesting! Thank you Alan. I guess I've not given any thought to babes born out of wedlock either .... another avenue I may have to pursue!

Hello.

Your post brings back memories, of when I first started my research, in the early 1980's at the LDS family centre, scrolling through the films of the 1820's OPR's of the Environs of Glasgow. I've had a quick look back through my notes of that time, but can't find a note made of what I found so interesting.

An OPR entry noting the Christening of a "foundling" left on the Kirk steps and given to a family in the parish to raise. They christened the child "Christian LOVE" Previously I had not given any thought to what happened to those born out of wedlock.

Thanks for your links Monica. As far as the LOVE/COCKBURN relation, this was a long shot from a family member ... I've decided it probably isn't correct. The LOVE/WATT relation seems to have more merit.

Tikka, just realised that one of the A/trees I have been referring to is your tree  ;) How have you made the links to Francis Love and wife Agnes Cockburn?

Going out on a complete hunch or limb...or something!

James Love shows as a baker on his 1900 entry. Not sure there would be many James Loves working as a baker at that time in Hawaii.

Could this be his family www.lovesbakeryhawaii.com/about.html

I hope so, as this would give you a really interesting background to the family and let you work back with greater confidence on the Scottish side.

Monica

Thanks!! Will look into ... didn't even think about this and I am from Hawaii!   :P
