Rutland / Re: Green - Normanton
« on: Wednesday 18 March 15 19:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Angelfish, I think I may have...finally! His marriage record said Normanton, but I did a search of Rothwell Northants where he is buried and found records of a registration in Kettering which just may be him. I did know about the move of the village I live a couple hours away and took a trip to Rutland records office and had a chat with the historian there. So many twists and turns! I hope you are having luck with your search.

Thanks so much for finding all that information for me.  1807 would be too late as from the age on his gravestone he was born about 1795/6.  I was so sure this time I'd found the right 'Green'  family, but maybe not.  He was supposed to be born in Normanton, and since the wife in this family was from Normanton Rutland (close to where his wife came from in Tallington) I thought maybe this was it.  However, maybe I need to keep hunting.
Thanks so much again.

Victor and David,
Thanks so much for confirming they were both buried at Bitchfield...so sad by the sound of what was in the booklet.
I'm still trying to see if I can find an older child for them - a John Green born around 1795-6 if by chance anyone can find any record of him, all I can find are the two younger ones so it might be he doesn't belong to this Green family but I'm hoping!

Regards
Barbara

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Bitchfield, Lincs - Green
« on: Sunday 01 September 13 18:52 BST (UK)  »
Im trying to find a possible child of a Francis and Elizabeth Green.
They were married in Normanton, Rutland on 28 October 1790, he was from Bitchfield Lincs, and she from Normanton Rutland.  I believe he was buried 5 Apr 1801 in Bitchfield, Lincs.  I think they might have had two children as I found two in parish records for Deeping St James, an Elizabeth born 22 Apr 1797 and a Francis born 29 May 1799, I was hoping to also find a John born about 1795-6 but can find no records.  If possible could someone have a look for me and see if they can find anything.
Any help greatly appreciated  :)

Thanks Trish
I suppose if they were cousins, there's a possibility that Mary Ann could have been a child of one of Joseph Otter's siblings that you named...second cousins instead of first??  So instead of looking for a missing child of Joseph and Elizabeth, maybe a child of Sarah, William and Ann that you found on FreeReg.  The search continues... :)

That may explain why I cant find her.  I always believed she was from Tallington, but looking at the where the younger children were born made me think maybe W. Deeping and just always thought or was told she was from Tallington because that's were the family where from.  My Dad always said he was from Eltham, but only on doing his tree I found he was actually registered and born Bedford Park, the other side of London.
I know she was married at Duddington, Northants, so will try tracking down some info from her marriage.
Thanks again  :)

Thanks iluleah about a year ago I was chatting via email to Colleen whose research that is, but she had no record, since then I've been trying to help her find the birth father of Elizabeth Otter's illigitimate daughter and having about as much luck as I am with Mary Ann.  However I will get back in touch with her in case she's got any further with her tree.
Thanks again

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Tallington - Otter
« on: Thursday 22 August 13 10:55 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find a Mary Ann Otter born abt 1800/1802 in Tallington.  I believe her parents were Joseph Otter (b abt 1770 Lincs) and Elizabeth Bains (b abt 1770 Lincs).  I have been able to find their children but no Mary Ann appears for the timeframe -
Francis (b bef 1795 - Tallington)
William (b bef 1796 Tallington d bef 1802 Lincs)
William (b 1802 W. Deeping)
Elizabeth (b 1804 W. Deeping)

I have her birthplace from census records and approximate age from her gravestone, she died 25 Jun 1856 age 55 in Rothwell Northants.  Its possible they moved to West Deeping before she was born.
I believe she is from this family because her daughter, Mary Ann Green, moved from Rothwell to Deal, then moved back to Uffington Lincs and lived out her days with her cousins John and Sarah Watts.  Sarah was an Otter from Tallington before marrying (b 1832), and I believe she is the daughter of William Otter (above) as he had a daughter Sarah also born in 1832.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Thnaks so much for sharing your information.  I've been banging my head on a brick wall for two years now trying to find my g/g/grandfather I know the town and approx date of birth but can find no records.  Unfortunately he goes back earlier than FreeBMD (late 1700s), but its now given me the idea this is how he is registered.
