I know this is a long time after the previous posts but it was Charles Rich Nelson - not Richard. Charles Rich Nelson b 1789 Barking d 1881 Dunmore House, Stanwell, Middlesex. He was the son of John Nelson 1761- and Sarah Rich 1765-1839 who was the daughter of Charles Rich Esq 1730-1808 and Sarah King 1741-1810.
Charles Rich Nelson m his cousin Mary Anna Nelson 1791-1875 in 1815 in Sparham, Norfolk. She was the daughter of James Nelson 1757-1837 and Anna Fisher d 1821.

Sorry, it is getting a bit confusing!
These are the facts that I already have and can prove:
1) John Burrows b 1769 d 1853 m Elizabeth Longfield of Cork in 1819. He was a Major in the 57th Regiment of Foot and served under Wellington, severely wounded at the Battle of Nivelle in 1813, he retired on half pay. He only had one son, Rev John Burrows born in 1821, who died unmarried in 1855.
2) Thomas Burrows b 1774 d 1838, my 3x gt grandfather was 'of Mark Lane and Limehouse'. He was a wealthy corn factor and lived in Church Row, Limehouse. His daughter, Sarah, married my gt gt grandfather, Henry Collier and it was their daughter, Sarah 1854-1934 who married John Lecky 1844-1929 (to join up my two queries!)
It was the 1851 census for Major John which showed him as being born in Bradwell, Essex. I know there are two Bradwells, but there didn't seem to be any Burrows that might be relevant in the Bradwell next Sea that I could find.
I then received just a few days ago a couple of family trees that had been compiled by another branch of the Burrows family - cousins that I hadn't known about - and it was those that led me to ask the questions re John of Bradwell and wondering about a possible Longfield/Lecky connection in Ireland.
Hope that's a bit clearer than mud!

Just found something else - there is a tiny note on this tree that says that the family inherited Elizabeth's lands and property in Cork! Must get my eyes tested!

Oh wow, thank you - perhaps then the relative in the last century who compiled the family tree wasn't so as wrong as we all thought!

Yes there is - and they are two different problems - but it's been suggested that perhaps the Burrows family were also in Cork - certainly they are listed as Freemen. John Burrows married an Elizabeth Longfield in abt 1819 in London and she was b about 1789 in 'Ireland' (she managed to avoid specifying where in every other census!) and she may be of Cork. Then the Lecky family in the person of John Lecky born in Cork in 1844 appears out of the blue and marries my gt-gt aunt Sarah Collier born in Cambridgeshire.
It just occurred to me that in searching for the Burrows antecedents that perhaps I should consider the possibility that these various Irish elements might have something in common? What do you think - is it just too much of a coincidence or could it be the reason why no one who has researched the family tree over the past 80 years has been able to find out where the Burrows family originated?
