Hello ss from the Rhondda,
thank you for the link to llanfabon road.
I assume you had your meal at the railway inn.... if you look again at the map it is shown in the wrong place it is in fact at the junction of the a472 main road and not half way up the hill ( i live about half mile away as the crow flies) as shown .I  would like to thank" totally lost" the map he provided shows the mill by the weir at fiddlers elbow.
regards

Hi again totally lost,
Ihave just been on old maps looking at llanfabon road and i just cannot figure out where that mill could have been?
at first i thought of the old fiddlers elbow bridge before they built the bridge from the A470 and have followed it up to nelson with no luck.
I can see a visit to the library in the morning
thanks again

Hello totally lost,
thanks for the message about the mill,i have lived in nelson for about 40 years and am still finding out things that are interesting about the village and the surrounding areas.
The photo site brought back some memories and you dont realise how the place where you live changes slow enough that you forget the changes.

Thanks for the help.....
I have now today a birth cert and marriage cert for Margaret Mary owen born 25/10/1886 and her marriage to Thomas Henry Richards at pontypridd 10/9/1906.
My assumption that because on the 1891 and1901 census said maggie that that had to be her name.........How wrong could i have been.
trying now to get in touch with Charles Richards whos grand parents appear to be the same
kindest regards

Hello Morganllan,
thanks for the reply ....yes this is the family and i am up to date on the 1901 census.John was my grandfather Cassie was an opera singer and thomas worked for the railways.
Maggie was born in 1887 and on the1891 census she is with her grandfather john jones at 105,tramside quakers yard but shown as a niece, on the 1901 at 29 craig houses as an adopted daughter aged 14 with john and mary jones her grand parents.
Not having seen the 1911 census i have now lost the trail.
From other contacts i have heard  she emigrated to south africa and had some dealing with a race course and other businesses...i think a theatre or picture house but i cant prove it.
All i know is she was well todo (i think) but dont know her married name.....
there cannot be many people buried at sea off the" durban castle" around that time.ie 1952 ish

thanks again

Dorset Lookup Requests / Re: Isaac Shiner
« on: Tuesday 22 September 09 12:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello Chappy,
yes any info about issac would be great.
the main reason really is with Ann she has married as a barrett but and heres where it gets strange and we still cannot find out why.

ON the 1841 census the whole family are barretts, william and emily are her parents.
from the 1851 census they are watts where we are desended from george anns brother. On williams death certificate the witness is ANN SHINER and she is down as a daughter. He having died as william watts also the death cert of Emily ....she is still watts
We have been in contact from a gentle man in that area who is also trying to work out what is going on with the name change? as he has followed another son who was christened as barrett but registered as barrett
if you have a copy of the marriage cert with witnesses that may help.
cannot at this moment in time get onto my family tree to look at what info i have to help you,but will get back in touch A.S.A.P.
regards
