Also, James Jardine received his land grant in Chatham several years before Joseph, which supports the idea that he was of a different immediate family.

I have been using the info from "Jardines of Atlantic Canada", which has Joseph>James> James Kerr.

Their is no birth date for James, and only Scotland for a birthplace.

Jamjar, your theory about James being a nephew to Joseph/Janet is intriguing, especially if there may be more information available about this James Jardine (weaver).

Joseph's occupation is also listed as a weaver.

James Kerr Jardine was the son of James Jardine, son of Joseph and Janet.

What  I know about James K and Elizabeth is their  dates of birth (approx. 1833, in Chatham, NB for James) and 13 Apr 1850 (Neguac, NB) for Elizabeth. They had a son, William James, b. 12 Apr 1881 in Cambridge, Mass. (according to his death certificate).
I have located James Kerr in the City Directory for Cambridge between 1887-1890, then New Westminster in 1892.
James died 25 Apr 1896 in New Westminster.
Elizabeth died in Vancouver 15 Aug 1938.

I can't find a birth certificate for James, nor a date/certificate for the wedding of James K and Elizabeth. What is very odd is that James' obituary in the newspaper names his wife, Elizabeth, as his sole survivor! Why wouldn't his son be listed?

thanks
Rob

Canada / Joseph/Janet Jardine, Chatham, NB

Hello,
Joseph and Janet (nee Kerr) are my 5th g-grandparents. They married in Scotland in in 1792, and the family had settled in Chatham by the late 1820s. I am hoping to find some connections with others researching this line, especially anyone with knowledge of the movements of James Kerr Jardine and Elizabeth (Hennessy) between NB>Cambridge, Mass>New Westminster, BC in the 1870s-1890s.

Thanks,
Rob
