New to this and realised I need to be  more specific. Trying to find out whether John Blanch, miner of Rutherglen was related to Peter Michael Blanch, baker of Rutherglen.

Death registration for John Blanch does not show parents so cannot go any further.  He came from Scotland. Probate does not give any clues either.

I know from electoral rolls that:
1903: Peter, a miner and wife, Ellen shown at Lilliput, Great Southern, Vic.
1909: Peter Michael, a baker and wife Ellen Theresa and a John Blanch, a miner and his wife, Margaret lived at Rutherglen, Vic.  The rolls do not show the exact address of each so they may or may not have lived together.
And Peter, a labourer and wife Ellen at 26 Butler Street, Richmond, Vic.
1914: Peter Michael, a baker and Ellen lived at 50 Cambridge Street, Collingwood, Victoria.

I have researched my Blanch family completely so need no information on them.

Thank you so very much for the information.  I had some but did not have the photo of him during WWI.

Wondering if anyone has any information on families who lived in Rutherglen or Chiltern, Victoria around 1900 with surname BLANCH OR BLANCHE.  In particular John and his wife Margaret and also Peter Michael Blanch who was a baker there for some years.

Thank you

Thankyou very much Shanew147.  Very helpful to see where places are in that area.  Is St. Andrew's Church the one shown as Leitrim Church?

I am interested in the history of the St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in the diocese of Clonfert , Leitrim.  I believe that Father Andrew Griffin was instrumental in raisin gthe funds to have the church built in mid 1800's.  He was buried there in 1884.

This parish is known by several different names Leitrim and Kilmeen or Kilcooley and Leitrim or Leitrim and Ballyduggan. It is a rural parish of which the Leitrim half is in the diocese of Clonfert and the Ballyduggan half is in the diocese of Tuam.  As I l ive in Australia I am not familiar with these locations.

Can anyone help?

Shetland / Re: BLANC/BLANCE FAMILY OF GLUSS, SHETLAND ISLES

Thankyou very much Hibe for the web site - it was interesting.  I live in Australia so know very little of what life is like on Shetland Isles.  I just know that this family was very prominent in the town of Gluss mid 1800's and lived in the Haa House.

Shetland / BLANC/BLANCE family of GLUSS, Shetland Isles

Parents were: Peter Blanc and Marion Sandison.  Most of their children remained in Gluss, North Mavine, Shetland Isles.  At least two sons migrated to Australia circa 1850 never to return to Shetland. Interested in any information on Gluss and the family.
