Norfolk / Re: Hempstead by Holt 1750

Hi,
Yes you are right. The witness at the wedding could have been either Thomas Browne the father or Thomas Browne the brother of the groom. I am trying to connect the parents Thomas and Martha Browne with any other Brownes living in or near Hempstead. Possibly there exists some local histories or documents relating to the village in 1700-1800?
All the best.

Samuel Peasnal and Elizabeth White had 8 children all born/baptized at Barby. But no baptism record of another daughter Elizabeth Peasnal born about 1820 Barby. That is the puzzle.

Also no record of their granddaughter Eliza Voiles (Vials) born/baptized about 1838 Barby.

Northamptonshire / Barby

Hi folks,
I have two ancestors both who claim to have been born in Barby, Northamptonshire on several censuses.
I have found no parish records for their births or baptisms. I believe the mother is Elizabeth Peasnell born 1820 and her daughter Eliza Viles (Voiles, Vyles, Vials) born 1838. How to get past this brick wall? Any suggestions are welcome.
Many thanks.

Hi folks,

I have traced my ancestors back to a John Browne baptized 3 May 1750/51 All Saints Hempstead by Holt.  Possibly a boot/shoe maker? Parents are Thomas and Martha Browne?  Are there any other records besides the parish records for this village? Any hints or suggestions of what to do to get past this brick wall are welcome.
Many thanks.

Hi folks,

I believe that Samuel Peasnal (the father/grandfather) married Elizabeth White in Hillmorton, Warwickshire on 7 Aug 1795.

Later the Viles family moved up to Marske by the sea, Yorkshire. Several other families from Barby also moved in 1850-1860 as well due to the boom in ironstone mining for the railways.

Hi Folks, I have two ancestors, a mother and her daughter, who claim to have both been born in Barby but I have been unsuccessful in finding either of them in the 1841 census or in the Barby parish records. I am searching for Elizabeth  (father's name Samuel Peasnal) born in 1816 or 1821 Barby. Her daughter is Eliza (father's name Charles Vials, a miner) born in 1838 Barby. Any information very much appreciated.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Carlton in Cleveland St Botolph marriage 1879
« on: Wednesday 29 January 14 21:50 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone kindly help with St Botolph parish records for a marriage in 1879? Eliza Brown married James Mohun. I am particularly interested in the names of the parents (or siblings) of the bride and groom who may have been present and recorded.

Many, many thanks.

I would be very pleased to have the details of the six children of John and Elizabeth Reid baptized at St George in the East 1822-1835. This will allow me to maybe find them in the 1841 census.
Many thanks for the help with this.
