Hi Jan,
Thanks so much for your research.  Funnily enough that is exactly the website that came up when I typed in my g g grandparents names!!  That's where I found out that Morris Jones was mayor of Welshpool!    :)  What goes around comes around!  It is a great website ... I recommend it to everyone!   I have padded out my family tree quite a lot from it, though mainly my Evans lot.  I then increased that tree from looking at censuses and I have found an Evans cousin, all thanks to that website!!!  I hope you find some rellies there too.  Good luck with all your searching,
Rona. xx
oh and P.S ... if you ever go to Shochlach grave hunting etc, please keep an eye out for any Kerrisons for me as Henry is one of my brick walls!  Thank you!!

Montgomeryshire / For SHINKAICHI - Welshpool Jones

Hi Jackie, Jan, and everyone,
I am also looking into Jones in Welshpool.  I wonder if any of this rings a bell?!  ....
Elizabeth Evans (born c1785) married Morris Jones (bap 1776 Ruyton xi Towns) in Welshpool in 1806.  I believe he was mayor of Welshpool in 1843 just before he died.
They had 4 children all born in Welshpool:
Eliza Mary Jones (ch 1814),
Harriet Ann Jane Jones (ch 1816, who married Rev John Hudson),
Morris Charles Jones (ch 1819,who married Elizabeth Paterson),
and Sophia Caroline Jones (ch 1825, who married an Independent minister Rev Henry Kerrison apparently from Shocklach, Cheshire).
Sophia Caroline Jones was my great great grandmother.
Are any of these names relevant to anyone?  If so please let me know!!
best wishes,
Rona Wilkins. xx
