Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: GREEN - Chelmsford

Aha...
If one letter can be mis-transcribed then I'm sure the other can too!
I shall have to search all variations and see what turns up.

Thank you.

Hi,

I am not sure if this will help or if it is your Philip :-\

Philip Green p Springfield married Ann Gowan 4 August 1796 Chelmsford

Frances :)

Hi  Frances,
I just wanted to check where you found this info.
The Chelmsford PR runs up to 1796 but ends in April and the next volume starts in 1797...
I can see the marriage in the IGI but if you have seen the original I wanted to check if Gowan could be a mistranscription of Gower as there are plenty of them in the PR & Census but no Gowan's whatsoever!
Thanks,
Tan

Thank you SO MUCH for that link.

You've made me a very happy bunny!

Not only did I find what I was looking for but a lot more to boot.
This will be an invaluable resource.
Thank you again.
Tan.

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / GREEN - Chelmsford

I'm looking for a Philip Green, in or around Chelmsford.
According to his daughters marriage certificate he was a farmer.

Phoebe Green was born in Chelmsford about 1813.
She married John Rixon, a Coachman in 22 Oct 1837 in St Martin in the Fields, Middlesex.
There's no sign of Philip on the 1841 census but I did find a Sarah Green, aged 60, Laundress and Philip Green aged 20, Male Servant, in Springfield near Chelmsford. This could be his widow. There seem to be quite a few Green's in Chelmsford but nothing to point me in the right direction.
Has anyone access to these parish records?

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: LATCHFORD in Middlesex

Thanks for looking, I couldn't find Morning Lane on the census.

Her husband James Rixon also lived on Morning Lane at the time so I'll have a look now.

Thanks for the census reference details.

Hi,
Just a quick update. I have obtained Elizabeth's marriage certificate.

She lived at Morning Lane at the time of her marriage in Hackney, 7 Jun 1840.
Her father was a James Latchford, a Commercial Clerk, although both likely candidates in Middlesex 1841 & 1851 censuses seem to be 'Smiths' so I hit another dead end as soon as I've started getting somewhere! Is it possible he was deceased or am I looking in the wrong places?

Thanks, I was aware of it but still can't find it.

Nevermind, I may just drive up there and ask the locals!

Denbighshire / Bryn Sguboriau, Llanelidan

Hi,
I was hoping someone might have come across this house in Llanelidan?

I've done a quick google and searched the map on http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ but can't find anything.

Bryn Sguboriau was noted at the birthplace of my great-grandmother in 1886. Her mother was working as a Farmers Servanr according to the certificate so she may have been living and working there.

Thanks,
Tan.

Iolanthe,

As I now live in Aberystwyth I've started visiting the National Library, I'm off again tomorrow and if possible will look up our Williamses.
I'll let you know how I get on, also below are other reasons which make it even more likely it's the same family.

I found your Ellis on the 1841 census:
Ty'n Llechwedd, llandderfel
Ellis Williams age 30 Farmer
Catherine 30
Margaret  5
Anne  3
Elizabeth  1
Hugh  10
William  15

Also in 1851 at the same address
William Williams age 44  Labourer on the Highway born in Llangwm (which is where my Edward Williams was born in 1791!!)
Gwen 44 born Llanfor
Margaret  7  Scholar  born Llandderfel
Gwen  5  born Llandderfel

Wish me luck!
Tan
