Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: 59 Rusholme road cholton on medlock
« on: Wednesday 31 January 24 07:39 GMT (UK)  »
My great gran Frances worked for Mr crossfield before my grandad was 15
My grandad was born 1914  there was something my mum told me about my great gran. Apparently while she was working for Mr crossfield she lived in the house. As a lodger but did domestic work.
Apparently one day my great gran asked Mr crossfield if she could have her son living with her. Mr crossfield asked how old was he. My great gran replied he's 15 years old. Then Mr crossfield said yes she can have him with her.

So I assume the address on my grandads marriage certificate of 59 Rusholme road chorlton on medlock. Is where both my great gran Frances and my grandad lived.
Mr crossfields name is on the certificate of my grandads marriage to my grandma eveline in 1933

Hello again.
This is going to sound strange.
I'm trying to find out who a caretaker of a cemetery lived and where the cemetery was.
The caretaker was called Thomas crossfield. I'm not sure if this address is anything to do with the cemetery.
I have an address 59 Rusholme road cholton on medlock. I can't seem to find out what the cemetery was called.

My mum told me that she visited her gran

And that one day my dad told her that he used to pass a cemetery dragging a stick across the gates tormenting a dog.
My mum said she told my dad it was her dog.
I shown my mum a photo of the cemetery.
She said it was that one  I can't seem to load the picture up.

If anyone please help me with the cemetery. I would really appreciate it.
Kind regards
Mrs Dorothy lucas
On my grandads marriage certificate it has the same address.
From what I can understand my great gran Frances worked for Mr crossfield.

Family History Beginners Board / I need help again please
« on: Tuesday 28 November 23 11:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again everyone.
As you know I've been trying to find out everything about my great grandfather Samuel Benjamin Cooper.
At the moment I'm trying to find out what he died of.
I'm a member of a group Manchester military 1914-18.
I've had a few comments.
But one of them was from my brother.

Unfortunately he can't send me anything via messenger he said because nothing is getting through.

From what I have been told. My great grandfather Samuel tried to join the army. But he was only in for 83 days.
He was classed as unfit.

My brother did this comment.

Dot E Lucas Because he lied about his age, he told them he was 34 but he was 10years older (44), also unfit for duty, that could well because of his work at the time, he was a Labourer at Bradford Colliery so it could be due to coal dust, lung problems or just a case of minor ailment, it'll just be guess work to try narrow it down to a specific cause, unless you can find his personal medical records from around that era, somehow I doubt they will exist, it might shine some light on it if you have a copy of his death certificate giving the cause of death, he might have a had a long suffering illness but again it'll only be guess work.

So now I'm trying to find his cause of his death.
I can't buy a copy of his death certificate. Because I only know his dob.

Please if anyone can help me.
I really would appreciate it.

Thank you all so much for your help with everything.
Kind regards Dorothy

Family History Beginners Board / I'm really confused with Ernest Lucas
« on: Monday 17 April 23 15:42 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me.
I'm really confused
I've been doing my husbands family tree for him. There's a confusing on something .
My husbands uncle is called Ernest Lucas. I think he was born November 1903. My hubby says he doesn't think his uncle Ernest Lucas passed away 1980s. He doesn't remember that.
As everyone knows that my hubby has a big family.
Recently I asked for a photo of the headstone of Ernest Lucas.
But the family on the stone my hubby doesn't recognise. Anyone.
It's possible that this Ernest Lucas isn't the correct one.

Please can anyone help me link up my hubbys family.
His father's name is Samuel Richard Lucas born 15th March 1915
He passed away 12th August 1999

Hopefully you might be able to see the headstone I've attached

Please can anyone help me.
I would appreciate any help possible.

Thank you so much for your time and help.
Kind regards
Dorothy

World War Two / Vincent Cooper Scarborough
« on: Saturday 01 April 23 21:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello again everyone.
I'm trying to work out something my mum told me a while ago. We were talking about my dad.
My dad was in the TA's he joined up when he was over 25.
What I'm trying to find out is this. My mum mentioned that my dad went to Scarborough.
What is baffleing me is. Was he on his way to Scarborough.

There's something else she mentioned
Apparently my dad and some of his regiment we're defending the beaches.
But when plane's few over they couldn't open fire on them. Because the pilots would know the soldiers were defending the town.
Something I don't understand.
Please can anyone help me with this.
I understand you can't help me with my mums conversation.
But maybe someone could explain the rest.
It's been baffleing me for such a long time.

My dad is Vincent Cooper. Born 27 September 1911.
This might help with the year my dad inlisted.

Thank you all again for your help.

Kind regards
Dorothy

Hello again everyone.
I would like to say a big thank you to you all who has been helping me trying to find out if this Alfred booth could have been my great grandfather.
The picture I posted on here is obviously not him.
I've been going by what my brother has said and apparently found out. Which is my great gran Frances Jones did get married before she had her son who she was expecting at the time. The father of her son had gone off to fight and was killed. So apparently she changed her name back to her maiden name. And called her son after Alfred booth.
My theory is.
My great gran Frances Jones had a gentleman friend he went off to fight my great gran Frances was expecting her son but hadn't married his father. Maybe they were due to be married after the war.
But because he could have died in the war. She brought up her son by herself.
She could have met someone during her working in Wales. He could have been Eaither a Welsh man or someone on holiday.
It's just sounds like something could be wright.
I do know tho.
My mum always spoke about her grandmother Frances.  They were like mother and daughter my mum told me.
My mum told me that her grandmother didn't get married she wanted to keep her name. And she never wore any kind of jewellery. Not even a watch.

Which brings me to a thought.
After my grandad was born which was in England. Where was he from when he was born until he was 15 years old?

As my mum was telling me that her gran was working in England after Wales working for a care taker who looked after a cemetery.
Her grandmother lived in. She had her own room. Apparently she asked the caretaker if she could have her son with her. She was asked how old he was. Which she replied 15 years old.
The caretaker said she could have him with her..

So I have a big gap.
Where was my grandad before he joined his mum after he was born up to his age of 15 and where was he with his mum until he got married to my gran eveline?
These are what I have been working on.
Then my brother said that he thinks he's found out my great gran Frances Jones was married to Alfred booth and his theory is that Alfred ( my grandad) was named after Alfred booth.
No wonder I have so many questions.
And getting confused with everything.

I think if at all possible. Try to find out 1st where my grandad was after he was born.up to him being age 15.Maybe he was with his mum before she began to work for the caretaker. And what happened from my great gran Frances and my grandad after she left the caretakers home with her son.
It's all a bit of a mystery.

Anyway I would like to say a big thank you to you all for the hard work you done for me.
I truly appreciate it.
Thank again everyone

Kind regards
Dorothy
