Lanarkshire / Caffery/McCaffery Family of Glasgow
« on: Wednesday 14 February 18 21:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

My 2xgreat aunt Mary Ann Casey was born on 13 April 1860 in Co Armagh to Francis Casey and Mary Gollogy she married John James Caffery/McCaffery in Co Armagh in 1880

They had six children all born in Co Armagh
Thomas Francis- 1883
Patrick - 1885- 7 Feb 1886 Died in Co Armagh
Bridget - 1887 -
Margaret - 1891 -
Ellen - 1893-
Catherine- 1895-

I am not sure when the family moved to Glasgow however John James came back to Dorsey, Co Armagh to purchase land for the family to move back to Ireland however during his visit he died as a result of carbon dioxide his address was listed as:
11 Tennant Street, Glasgow

Thomas Francis came back to Co Armagh in 1921 and married Margaret Ellen Bennett
His address was still listed as:
11 Tennant Street
His sister Catherine McCaffery was a witness at the marriage

I can't find the family in the census of Ireland for 1901 so they must of been in Glasgow at that stage

I have try to find them on Scotland people on the census records and have not had much luck
So I was wondering if anyone could help me find them, also when did Mary Ann died and what happen to her

Many Thanks to anyone for information :)

My 2x Great Grandfather was in the army from 9 Jan 1827 until 31 May 1841
I have a copy of his service record (I attach it for people to look at)
I know about his life before and after the army

It his time within the army I want to learn about
Would I be right in saying that he ended up in 65th (2nd Yorkshire, North Riding) Regiment of Foot? because Thomas Grosvenor was the general
There a record of him in Isle aux Noix, Canada in 1841 around the time he left the army I know he lost three fingers off one hand so that why he left did he also get drop two ranks because of this or was that what happen

Would I be able to find out what he was at between 1827 and 1840?

Thank you for anyone that offers there help

I don't know much else about Edward Morgan then he was a labourer as told on his marriage certificate and that is his father was called Owen Morgan and was a farmer I believed he married a connection of mine called Bridget Loy( Don't know when she was born) They got married on 13 Nov 1865 in Cullyhanna Chapel, Co Armagh

I have not found any children born in the marriage so I was wondering if anyone had Edward in their family tree and if they know what happen to Bridget

Thanks to anyone for information

GRONI only shows deaths in last 50 years unless you are going to Belfast to look at the records

Thank you for your help Sandra so far
Here is Michael grave in New York
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Casey&GSfn=Michael&GSbyrel=all&GSdy=1964&GSdyrel=in&GSst=36&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=2633766&df=all&

I believe he did lie about his age however to serve in ww1 as he was born in 1891 the date is right however it just the year that is wrong I will try the libraries in New York for a obituary for him as well

I don't think he married and Peter Joseph came back to Dorsey and he never married either so I will go to the local library and see if there was a obituary for him
