1901 found him in the census at Sculcoates, Hull.....

I took a look at the census. The minister wrote him in the missing persons book in 1904 after he realised that Peter wasn't going to return to the parish.

The problem is that I don't think Karl is the father as he wasn't living there at that time.

The last record for Petter August Sundgren is from 1904.

He was put in the missing persons book in 1904. Explanation:

He was a seaman and most probably left Sweden around 1904.

There seems to be no record stating who the father is.
Karl Johan and Karolina were married 1 July 1880 with the bann beginning 7th March 1880:
