Edmund born 1881 ish my dad said  he used to disappear then come back then disappear again, then he was going to go again then died in 1953 before he could go again! my dads grandad! left his lovely nan to bring up the children lol

Thank you so much...I am so shocked....there was talk about a edmund Stephenson b1881 poss having another family in new zealand as he was a sailor, but this is a shock......did not think they had the money to immigrate ?

And the weirdest thing is I nearly went to Ontario my self to be a nanny with a friend in the 80's! 

so perhaps others in the stephenson family have gone with him hence me not being able to find them?

then he on 1851 census

I do have Mary Ann as well as Eliza 1829, he also had many children with first wife, Archibald is my brick wall, I cannot get back further than him.......so many Mary Ann's around the same area I have not yet found her death or burial.

do you think this would be the only way to britain, if no passenger lists?

I did look that up but none of the birth dates fit, even though I am not sure his correct date/year and if I did come across anything I don't no  what I would match against?   but thank you so much anything to break this.
