Hi.
I'm trying to find out /prove that the 1851 census in Wolverhampton is actually my James.

There are just so many Rowley's. I've looked at this for a while now and I'm still not 100% this is the correct one.

thos gough       8 1853 step dr.

1871 c. walsall. mistranscribed as Bowley.

Thanks for reading this far!
I have a bit of an issue with James's birth dates,  poss bap 1844 - 1852 youngest he ever states.
I cannot find Mary Ann/Ann in 1861- presumably around Ettingshall somewhere.
Ann Richards is never Mary Ann Richards!

My James is not the one in Ditton Priors, in 1851/1861-
I do not agree with the other two trees on ancestry that have his mother as Ann Cooper.

Do you think my research looks ok?
Can you find my James before 1871?

Wow, that was a mission just writing it all out. :)
over to you RC community.

Hi Hepburn,
I have seen the Upton history group page, thank you.

Thank you for the picture of Springfield, it is much clearer than the one i found using google maps.
How would i find your photo if i wanted to google search for it? (rather than follow the link)

 Thank you Simon.

Looking again at the census returns, old maps etc. I do think it may have been where I said on Brook Lane. Perhaps the house just wasn't large enough to be named on the old maps. After reading on an Upton heritage website I think the family and the business was reaching its end by the early 1900's and most of the land is now built on.

Thanks SiGr,
I have contacted Cheshire Archives, obviously things are a bit difficult at the moment regarding visiting and stuff, but i have had an email back from them- they dont have any photos either.

I liked your idea of a name change for the house, but ive found a newspaper report for John Trevor from 1896, that says he lived at Ningwood.

Looking at the 1901 census, Brook lane is sandwiched between Well Lane and Conniston Lane. Looking at google maps there is a house today, right on the corner of Brook Lane/Newton Lane called Conniston (name on the gate post zoomed in). There is also a big detached house, around about number 114 Brook lane that is now flats. (parkinsons property rentals sign outside)
Does anybody think this house, 114, is old enough to be Ningwood?

Thanks

The motor incident sounds interesting.
