Durham / Coroners report for Death of Elizabeth Nuttal in 1850
« on: Thursday 11 January 24 10:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I wondered if anyone could help. I recently sent off for a digital copy of my 4 x great grandmother Elizabeth Nuttal nee Simpsons death in Tanfield Durham on the 11th March 1850. Ive attached a copy of it. There is no cause of death just that she was found dead on the road. Would there have been an inquest and coroners report as to how she died. I wondered if anyone had access to the newspaper archives or could help

Kind regards
Susan

Hi I had some amazing help which enabled me to get off starters orders for a lady who knew nothing about her family. Im not sure if Im going along the right route with Alice D Armstrong who married Thomas Doney Barker in 1937 in Northumberland. Thomas died in 1939 aged 28 and they had one child together in 1938. Alice then remarries in 1945 to Robert Baker in Northumberland.

I found an Alice D Armstrong born 1915 in Northumberland with mothers maiden name Robinson. The only marriage I have found is a John R Armstrong and an Annie Robinson in 1914 in Northumberland. There are trees on ancestry with this couple but not with Alice. I think what makes it harder is shes above the age for the 1911 census and I dont have access to the 1921 census

Scotlands People shows 1911 census, St George, Midlothian:
Jemima Barker 29 yrs
Thomas D Barker 0 yrs
with a Thomas who maybe her husband.

You will need to buy credits to view the records but it is free to search.

Thank you Heywood. ;D aprreciate your help and time

According to the 1921 census, Thomas Doney was born in Midlothian, Scotland. No father present on this census; mother Jemima is down as 'widowed' and children as 'father dead.'

Following the birth registrations of Thomas' siblings who were born in England, Jemima's maiden name was Doney. The Jemima from Cramlington matches the 1921 census.

Queenie  :)

Thankyou Queenie  ;D. I havent come across any siblings yet. Do you know where Jemima was living in 1921.

Hi Im doing a bit of research for a work colleague of my husband. She dosent have much information to go off. Her Grandfather was Thomas Doney Barker who died in 1939 aged 28 years. She believes he may have had Scarlet fever. Thomas married Alice D Armstrong in 1937 and they just had the one child who was her mother who has also passed away. Burials were on findagrave at St Bartholomews, Newbiggin by the Sea.
Going off Thomas Doney Barkers birth he would have been born 24 Jan 1911 according to the 1939 census. Him and his wife and daughter were living at Wallsend. Also who was staying with them was his widowed Mother Jemima Barker who was born in 1882.
My problem is I can not find a birth for Thomas Doney Barker. What I did find was Jemimas grave at St Bartholomews Newbiggin 1st Dec 1972 and on her gravestone it says beloved wife of the late Adjutant Thomas Barker. I cant find a marriage for a Thomas Barker and Jemima but there is a Jemima Doney born 1882 in Cramlington who was living in Bedlington. She disapeared after 1891 census. Im hoping a fresh pair of eyes can pick something up I`m missing.
