The old Chapel is up on the hillside above the villages of Gwaun Cae Gurwen and Cwmgors. The Chapel was destroyed in an arson attack some years ago. The graveyard remains. You visited the 'new' Chapel which was built last century in the middle of Gwaun Cae Gurwen. This never had a graveyard and has recently been converted into a dwelling.

Do you click on the grey bar that includes the standardised location? I just did that and it worked for me.

Usually, if you delete the 'm' at the end of United Kingdom you will be presented with the complete standardised location to select.

Probably a different person but I hope you won't mind me asking. My grandfather's sister was a Rosa Price born Llanfihangel Talyllyn in 1881. Do you have dates for your Rosa?

The Common Room / Re: Why did parents stop christening their children post-1837?

I thought that proof of birth was linked to the provision of Poor Law relief. You had to prove that you belonged to a parish in order to get the (parish-based) payments if you got into difficulties. This would have been an important consideration for your average ag lab and other people of limited means. They had to face the risk of illness or loss of employment at some time in their lives or even old age pauperism. The post-1837 birth certificate showed the place of birth making a baptism unnecessary for civil purposes.
