Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Cefn Mawr - Hughes
« on: Sunday 26 February 12 14:14 GMT (UK)  »
William signed up with the Royal Welsh Fus. in January 1900. I had thought he may have been away at Boer War??
Thanks for the response and the link. I knew it was going to be a bit of a nightmare but would like to find out about the children.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Cefn Mawr - Hughes
« on: Saturday 25 February 12 21:05 GMT (UK)  »
I have a William Henry HUGHES b.1865 married to Mary Elizabeth JONES b.1872 in 1893 at St Mary's Ruabon.
In 1901 they reside at Maelor Terrace, Acrefair, Cefn with children Florence b 1894, Thomas b 1894 and Edith (my grandmother) born 1899.
In 1911 they reside at Russell St., Cefn. but the census shows that they had five children, two having died. No one in the family knows anything about these children who died. Please where would I start looking??

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Ruabon Baptism 1893 - 1911
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 19:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I have just discovered from the 1911 census that my grandmother had two siblings that I knew nothing about. William Henry Hughes and Mary Elizabeth Jones were married in St Mary's Ruabon 3rd July 1893.  By the 1911 census they had 5 children and 3 were surviving. I know about Florence Gertrude and twin Thomas Edward born 1894 and my grandmother Edith May born 1899, these are the only children shown in 1901 as well. Please could some kind person have a look for the other two children???
Many thanks
Jenny

Anglesey Lookup Requests / 1861 Local knowledge may help!!
« on: Saturday 29 September 07 17:21 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a couple in Anglesey 1861 : John JONES who may or may nor be married to Elizabeth also a JONES. (Their first child I think was born 1862)
John was born in Langoed c 1838 and Elizabeth in Aberffraw c 1834 according to later census. (I have them in 1871 and 1881.) Neither of these town names seem to feature in 1861 but maybe there is another local name they would have used.
I have not found their marriage so was kind of hoping to find them in 1861 to see if they were wed or not by then to narrow down the dates. Therefore I don't know names of either fathers. I know it's a long shot but if anyone could look for them I'd be grateful.

Hi folks, sorry late back from work. Yes Thomas married Elizabeth Davies in Ruabon. I can't find them in 1861 even though they had a son John Hughes by then, born 1860 Cefn Mawr. Next child Tamar born Dec 1861 again later census shows Cefn Mawr.

My Thomas Hughes (g. g grandfather) that was born Chirk 1835 named his first born daughter Tamar, so the marriage Paul found even if it was 2 wks after the birth looks likely, he'd then have named his daughter after his mother. Thanks all, am really appreciating your help. Jenny
