Hello
My Murphy family also came from castlegarden, kilfane, Kilkenny. There are family still there today.
My Great grandfather Edward Murphy came out to New Zealand from Ireland in the 1800's.
We are bound to all be the same family. Would love to connect.
Brenda nee Murphy

Hi Brenda did you get my reply to another one of my posts that you responded too. Regarding Murphys of castle gardens? Would love to connect. I haven't found anyone so far that is tracing my lineage, even on ancestry.

Hi Brenda sorry for the slow response.  Yes would love to connect with you. Are you saying that you are a connection to my Australian ancestors in Melbourne .? I don't know of your Edward Murphy that went to New Zealand.  My Margaret Murphy okeeffe married Patrick Murphy  had several children and immigrated to Australia don't know when exactly. I have a feeling they left behind a Murphy in Ireland as he is mentioned in a will of a James Murphy doe those names ring a bell for you

do you have any info your end? Regards. Claire.

Just see if I'm reading this correctly.
James Murphy died in Australia naming a brother John in Ireland in his will.

An approx date of the birth for James and his siblings would help.
Were they all born in Ireland?

Yes sinann. James died in Australia 22.3.1908

John named in  james Will. John murphy seems to have still been residing  in castle gardens kilkenny that year.

the other childrens birth dates are in the post i sent to my luck. They were all born in ireland

Hello I'm  posting this message because i am hoping that someone may have information on a John Murphy from Castle Gardens Kilkenny Ireland.
I have only just discovered  him through his brother James Murphy  probate and will ,dated 1908. It read that John was from Kilkenny

It seems to me that John Murphy remained  in Ireland while his family immigrated to Melbourne  Australia possibly in
1850. Don't  know whether he had family or when he died.

The family consisted of Patrick Murphy, his wife  Margaret Murphy nee O'Keefe  born 1803 castle gardens Kilkenny Ireland died Melbourne  1887. Children James ,Mary, Bridget, Annie ,Ellen and of cause John who remained in Ireland
IT seems that i am the only person researching this family.
Thanks Claire

Are there two photos here, one in front of the other?  The background, trees etc., don't appear to continue behind the people, there also appears to be a definite rectangle showing with the family on.
Pat

Yes I know pat:)) someone pointed that out to me. I didnt realise. Someone stuffed up when taking that pic

Australia / Re: ANZAC Day do you have a WW1 Ancestor that others might be interested in.

I just looked up ww1 records from Canberra in regards to my two great uncles leo knox and Patrick Knox. These records provided me with lots of valuable  information i knew nothing about. good, sad information. I was under the impression that both of these brave men died in France. it turns out only Leo was killed in action. His brother Les survived. Records showed Les applied for compensation maybe pension ,maybe he was sick ptsd .dont know. in 1959. .This man was never spoken of in my family at that time. I wonder what became of him.:((
