It reads like a novel, I did find the ships papers where he described himself as a Gentleman, between him and his brother who ran away from the Army and then stowed away on a ship bound for Australia, they could make a film about it. My very many thanks to you for all of this, these words are little enough but are heartfelt. Research outside of England is totally beyond me.

I am so very grateful to you for all of this wonderful work, it has exceeded my expectations. I have been awake for many hours during the night with this family going round and round in my mind.  :)

Having discovered a death notice I would like to ask for some help please.

William John born 1867 in Liverpool, Lancashire, his parents were
William Plunkett and Catherine Smyth (Smith) both born in Ireland

The death notice states that William John died on the 30 Sep 1924 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan and also shows that he was married.

William John is on the 1881 UK census but not the 1891 so am assuming he emigrated prior to 1891. There is an entry on a ships passenger list for that name but it describes him as GENT.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this please.  Thank you for reading.

Yes they all belong.  Does that mean that William John Plunkett was born in Liverpool?  I have sent off for the birth certificate of Charles but that will take a bit longer due to the Easter break.  Thank you so much for your help.

Thank you for coming back to me and for giving me food for thought.

The 1871 census shows Mary aged 5 born Ireland and also William John aged 5 but no place of birth, however these two children do not appear on the 1881 census.
