Hemingbrough is right next door to Selby, and that is where there are (or where) several large mills, producing flour and animal feeds.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / 1841 Census Selby Lookup
« on: Sunday 01 February 15 12:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am looking for Bessey (or Betsey) Welburn born 1829 Hemingborough district (christened Escrick church)
She is the daughter of Thomas and Hannah Welburn. The family, except for Bessey are on the 1841 census in Hemingborough.
I am lead to understand she shows up on the census 1841 in Selby, and I am interested to find out why, or who with, maybe working or with relatives.
I know that by 1853 and later she is back in the Escrick/Hemingborough area.

Thanks in advance
Dave

I agree with bugbear, that a tablet is not as good as a laptop (or PC) for genealogy use.

I have just recently purchased one, and even though I have internet roaming access, and an online database, it is just too awkward to use in situ. I only now use it as a mobile notepad, and then transcribe those notes into my family tree using my laptop, where I have the opportunity to have other windows open for reference and cross checking.

Hi all,

I can confirm that Debbie is on the right track, as Mary Anne Frances Hayden (Barrett) was my great aunt, and I can recollect visiting her at Winterton, Lincolnshire.

I also have more information on the family, through my own research.
