Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Joseph Perkins and Ann Elizabeth Linfordm Sheffield

When Charles Linford married for 2nd time on 4 Dec. 1898 he is described as widower.
Divorce was expensive and unusual for labourering folks,
was it unlikely to have happened in this instance?

Plymouth St Andrew early years register images are available at FindMyPast, subscription site.
Can see Libby with many possible variant spellings there in 1600’s.

The Common Room / Re: Surname used as a middle name

Also, before middle names were fashionable, a surname as a middle name in a baptism of a base child might indicate who the father was.

This might be a bit abstract, apologies: I saw a video on YouTube
what I thought was a really useful way to write down an overview of an individual person's life in a grid …

Unfortunately I can't seem to find the video …

Mosmi,

If you Google …
gantt chart for family history timeline youtube video

Will that bring up your video ?

Your Poirot example is a like Gantt chart.

Interesting.
I have done similar on A4 paper, landscape orientation, of the UK census, a narrow column for each decade, for my families to map the generations so I could track them, and sort out the blanks.

Old school to use paper 😂

I volunteer for FreeREG and we are currently adding Ottery St Mary records to the free online database.

There are 2 1600’s baptisms for children called Benedicta ;)
Burnard and Baker …

We are working from the 1929 Devon and Cornwall Record Society’s transcript.
You can see a full set of images online of this DCRS book on familysearch. There is valuable history of the parish in those pages.

Devon / Re: Family of George Henry RUNDLE

Check at your local library if they subscribe to the library edition of FindMyPast.
Then as a library member, you can view the FindMyPast images of the original parish registers and hopefully download for your personal reference.

Most of Devon is online behind the FindMyPast paywall.
Some is online member only at Devon Family History Society.

Lots of the bishops transcripts are viewable online at familysearch but there are huge gaps in early years. You can find those pages online by searching for images, and nominating the parish.
I have not tested this for your area of interest, as that is for you to do ;)

Happy hunting,
Janelle

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: No DNA matches on great-grandmothers line
« on: Sunday 03 September 23 02:33 BST (UK)  »
Hmmm, interesting

Which company did you test with
?
Have you uploaded your raw data to other platforms ?
Where was the lady born ?
Is her ethnic origins well represented in the database of your test company ?
Does she have siblings or cousins with descendants who you know have tested ?
