Scotland / John Napier Alexander
« on: Saturday 20 January 18 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I have been researching my grandfathers family who was Alfred Alexander born 1903 in Peterhead. He had eight siblings so I am trying to find them all and find out more about my grandfather.
He had a brother John Napier Alexander born in Peterhead 1893 July 20th to Charles and Mary Alexander (Lovie). I trace him to Stornoway where my great uncle Charles Alexander lived.
My great uncle John Napier Alexander marries Isabella Annie Maciver they are both 43 years old and married at 3 Keith street Stornoway.
I have tried to find out what happened to them but I cannot find a death certificate I know that John was a cooper and his wife a Fishworker, they might have worked for his brother Charles who had his own business in the fish industry and also a transport firm of lorries in those days 1936.
Can someone help me here I have searched for there death certificates I cannot find children but they were aged 43 when they married. Please can you help?
Kind Regards Annie

Thank you very much for all this information I am so grateful. I have been to the grave of my great grandparents Charles and Mary Alexander in Peterhead.
How is it possible to find out why my Auntie Mary Jane Cook White m/n Alexander died at the age of 48 and is possible to get her death certificate?
Also, I would like to find out more about her brother George Alexander who immigrated to Australia around 1912 I think he went out to work as a miner. War broke out and he signed up with the Australian Imperial Forces and was killed 1918 at the age of 38.
It would be interesting to find out when they arrived in Australia and where he lived.
On the family headstone, his friend James Scott PTE 607 died on September 22 and 1918 aged 35 years. George died August 30th, 1918.

The best place to start would be to get his birth certificate www.Scotland's people.gov that will give you his parent's names and their  marriage You can also look for him in the 1911 Census

Was he in the army ??
I do not know if he was in the army, I have used credits at Scotlands people.gov but the death certificate was not of great grandfather.
Where can I look to see what happens to the family after 1911. My grandfather was only 7 in 1911.
I would like to find him he was in the Peterhead area as my father was born on 1934 and then his sister in 1935 my grandfather would have been 32 years old.
I tried to see if he was married but no record in Peterhead. What did he do for a living and where was he living my grandmother worked as a maid.
Thanks for the information on his brother Harry who was killed in France when he was 18 years old. Harry was my Dads Uncle.
Many Thanks for all your replys your are awesome
