Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: William Brailsford Smith of Chesterfield

Thank you very much Carole and Alan.

Carole, yes William died in 1913 (although I don't know the exact date yet) and they did live in Birdholme, thank you.

I'm trying to find out when William's wife Mary died, all I know so far is that it was in 1921 or later. There are so many Mary Smiths!

Alan, yes that's the same man and I'm pleased to say that he was exonerated in the end.

Thanks again. ☺️

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / William Brailsford Smith of Chesterfield

Hello everyone,

I'd like to find the grave of some ancestors who lived on Park Street, but the surname of Smith is making it harder for me.

Can anyone suggest a local churchyard where they might be buried, please? I know that Hasland cemetery is near to where they lived, but a search for William in there has drawn a blank so far.

Thanks in advance,
GaznDon

Thank you again everyone. ☺️

I've now contacted the church wardens, and await their reply.

I hope there's a memorial, whatever condition it's in! 🤞

Thank you so much everyone.

His four-year-old grandson is buried in the same churchyard - I wonder if they are together. His name was George David Allen. 😓

Good evening all,

According to the National Burial Index, my ancestor David White was buried in Surfleet in 1886.

Can anyone tell me how I would be able to locate his grave, please?

Many thanks in advance,

GaznDon

Hi,

Is anyone able to look up the following burials, please?

Edgar Redgrave, 1829-1885, buried at Sotherton and his mother Mary Redgrave, 1805-1885, also buried at Sotherton. I'm guessing the church is St Andrews.

Any further details would be greatly appreciated.  :)

Thank you so much everyone, for your interesting and helpful replies.

Even if I never find out who it is, at least I feel like I've learned something, which could be of help in future research. 😊
