Thank you for all that very interesting information.

When Herbert married in 1929, he named his father as Herbert William.
His only son was named William Herbert.

As was common during these times, age at marriage was a fluid concept (my gg grandmother's was incorrect on all 4 of her marriage certs), but your information ties in neatly with 1896 being true as stated , rather than the 1893 on the mercantile record.

A quick look in South Australian records did not indicate that his siblings joined him here at all.

I appreciate the time that you took to look into that.  All the best Little

Thank you Debra

I had checked but missed it terribly.  Broken Hill is a usual go to when looking for Pirie people.

It ties in with her sister Ellen Annie's marriage to Charles Andrew Burke in Kadina.

First sibling died at 4 months.

Thank you again.

Married 12 Sep 1929 Methodist Manse Port Pirie
Groom  Age 33  Bride Age 36
Groom father: Herbert Mayfield
Bride father: John Thomas Burrow Smith

John Thomas B Smith married Anne Sebastin 14 Aug 1881 at St Ignatius Church Norwood

I mentioned presumably as my family history in Port Pirie has included irregular family adoptions and fostering from that early 1900s to 1950s as birth parents died.

Thanks LW

Hi
I am interested in finding the names of soldiers who enlisted in World War I from Hamilton.  My great grandfather was one and he was a POW.  I am interested in discovering how many later migrated to Australia, particularly South Australia.

Any ideas on finding this information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello

I am looking for information on Edwin John Kenchington - born c 1855 in Jersey.  Parents are probably Henry Kenchington and Sarah Scaffel.  A Robert Kenchington was born to these parents on 24 Apr 1849 and baptised on  13 May 1849 in St Helier Parish.

Edwin became a seaman and settled in South Australia, dying in 1927.  I have his Australian details including marriage and children. Father named on marriage certificate as Henry.

Any information on his birth and parents would be greatly appreciated, including where to locate information.
