Although violet May's birth date is given as 6/9/1898 on her Bapt. School records give 5/9/1898.

Winchester School Islington 31/8/1903 Violet May Lay date of birth 5/9/1898 in parent space it says Mrs Chedd.

There is a Chadd family in Islington on 1901 census born Bromley?

Jennifer
Hi Jennifer
Thanks for that info. Florences mother was Naomi Jane Chedd. It shows the children where farmed out with nanny when issues arose in the family. Naomi was married four times so florences early life was at times unstable also.
Thanks Alan

Admitted 9 June 1903 she is in the Tower Hamlets/Poplar work house
Florence Lay born 1879 married
Frederick Lay born 901
Florence Lay born May 1903

admitted from the Bromley Parish

There is a notation that says Committee Order Deserted, that may or may apply to her mother Florence reading across the book entry.
Hello Amondg
Many thanks for this intresting info which may explain what I had found on a certain website.
Can I ask is the info available on ancestry or through local archives??
On checking the ancestry records of London Schools I discovered that the children were moving Schools very regular from about 1903 to 1906. This may explain why, hence my question so I can look into it further. Also you mentions no Violet born 1898 so she maybe with the mothers family. The family got back together by the beginning of 1904 as Charles was born December 1904.
Look forward to hearing from you
Thanks
Alan

Thanks Carole for this. I already have them on the 1901 census. Of their 4 children Florence Edith Lay was the one I can not find on the 1911 census. Hence my original query.
I have posted on this site about the family in my search.
Thanks again

I am interested in Edith Lay who is recorded on the 1911 census.
Details I have (from an index) Female aged 7 birthplace Homerton London staying in Walthamstow Essex.
I am interested in who she is with as I believe she could be my missing Florence Edith Lay (Her mother was also Florence which might it explain she was referred to as Edith) Hopefully it is with family.
Many thanks
