Auburn Place in Lutterworth was built as a domestic dwelling for George Spencer, the owner of the Vedonis factory in the town, which was on Crescent Road. He died in 1947. I think I read somewhere that he left the house to the Grammar School. The house became a day nursery, after many years as the sixth form centre. I imagine that the name Auburn comes from the colour of the bricks, or maybe the trees in autumn.

Leicestershire / Re: Baptism at Barwell of George GARNER abt 1784-1785
« on: Wednesday 05 September 18 15:31 BST (UK)  »
Actually, after a lot of searching I found that there are several Garner baptisms in Barwell in the period, including a George on 15 July 1792, the son of John Garner and Elizabeth (nee Adcock).

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=GBPRS/LEICS/BAP/01105159 Archive: Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland, reference DE3367/3, Record set: Leicestershire Baptisms.

The marriage licence for the aforementioned couple is dated 15 Oct 1777, he was 30 and she was 27, both single, both residents of Burbage.

They also had a son, Robert (baptised 16 Nov 1783), a son, William (baptised 20 Nov 1785), son Richard and daughter Elizabeth (baptised together on 17 Nov 1788).

Hope this is helpful to you.

Bwahahaha turns out I do know that farmhouse, it's near my house. it's now called Homebridge Farm and it is technically in Ellistown. The parish is Ibstock.

Your Joseph Cooper in 1901 is living at Billabarrow, not Bills Arrow..... Billabarra Lane as it is now called is just off the A511, not far from the Flying Horse pub/restaurant. I have been there many a time, as there is a Miner's Welfare Club down there and my O.H. is an ex-miner.
