I've also looked at the first and middle names of Henry and Mary Ann's children to see if any could have been passed on. Unfortunately, the names all seem to come from Henry's side, with some of them being exactly the same as the names of Henry's siblings.

I know - it's driving me mad trying to find them!

Henry's parents were both still alive at the time of their marriage. I don't know about Mary Ann as the only information I have about her father is that his name was John and he was a labourer. Both Henry and Mary Ann say that they were living in the Kent Street Borough, but all the records I have say that Henry was actually living in Deptford.

No idea when she moved to Surrey. There are lots of potential entries for domestic servants in 1861 - perhaps with the incorrect birth place listed?

She was also admitted in and out of the workhouse/infirmary as she got older. I've looked at the relatives listed upon her admission and none of them are her maiden family. On one entry, it says George (Brother) at Oakhurst Farm, Eltham. I was so hopeful but unfortunately this was actually an in-law.

I don't think the Rugby births are the right family - Mary Ann Wright and John Jeffery were married in 1849 so too late for the birth of Edward who was born in 1844 as per the 1851 census  :(

Oh no, how awful for them.

I'm still looking in 1861 with no luck yet.

Ignore my last reply - I've found one, not Warwickshire, but Leicestershire, Lutterworth to be exact!

Perhaps they were both baptised again when they moved to Leamington? I don't know why that would be, but it seems with this family anything is possible!

I'm struggling to find birth registrations too, can't seem to find them in 1861 either.

I found one for Joseph from the 1851 census on 28 Mar 1850 in Dunchurch - father, John, was a railway labourer as per 1851 census. Dunchurch is next to Thurlston so I think this is likely to be him.

Could he have been baptised twice, again when Mary Ann was born?

Thank you, I've just found this record too! I can't find the family in 1861, or any birth records in the right area either. From one problem to another!
