Sorry to burst a bubble here - there are usually four couples on each page
In this case, the James BELCHER does not match with Mary KENNEDY
he married Sarah FINLAY LINK

FTR
When you find a marriage reference you need to look for all possible spouses
There are usually four
If you find more than four women, it is usually because one is remarrying and all known names are recorded
It is unusually to find more than four male names - this is often mis-interpretation
Less names can happen if the whole page had not been completed

Many of the records are not online - where they are not just a match of references does not imply yu have the correct two parties, unfortunately  >:(

Great job solving your connection! You give us all hope!
102. Incredible 🙂

I had many relatives that "went out" to relatives in Boston from Co. Galway

There was one man in Dorchester who was the "go to" person to get them started in the US in the 1940s and 1950s. He was always referred to as a "cousin" or "relative" by one side of the family but no-one was quite sure how.  It took a long time to work out his connection to us but it turned out his mother was my great-great-grandmother's sister!  Age differences, and longevity, had mixed up generations.

He died just ten years ago aged 102!   I was thrilled to make the connection eventually and add him to our tree. It was an annotation on the back of a photograph that helped solve the puzzle!  He was a lovely man.

Are there Twiggs in Newtown/Newtownards?
A US census indicated Eliza Twigg, cousin, was living with James and Mary Belcher.

Thank you, myluck  :)
Sometimes, it was spelled Belsher in US.
welcome to rootschat raysline

There is a baptism in Eglish Co Armagh on Nov 08 1936 of a Margaret BELSHER
Father Alexander; Mother Isabella; Address TAMLAT

there are a few more as BELSHY and BELSHAW
name variants at that time are not unusual as literacy was an issue

At this time you are depending on church records as it is before civil records
This means without knowing a specific parish to look in, your search will be difficult

Also if they lived close to the border with another county the records could be in that county rather than in Armagh

The Griffiths Valuations shows a William BELCHER in Armagh (c1848) LINK
