Do you have a date of death at all?

Jumping in late here, but most of North Street, Bruce Street,  Lady Street, English  Street and George Street were demolished under compulsory purchase in the early 1950s. The houses had no internal running water.

Dumfriesshire / Location of Girth Head farm
« on: Saturday 26 September 20 11:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm trying to locate a Girth Head Farm, Wamphrey near Lockerbie. Can't seem to locate it on Google!
My maternal grandfather died there in 1963.
I can't even figure out why he was there as he lived on Main Street in Lockerbie?
Only thing I've got to connect him to any farm is that his mother's husband was a shepherd!?
Thank you in anticipation.

Hi Lydart,
realise this is a very old thread, but, as a memorial mason, I'd like to put my tuppence worth in...
The Palm trees are a Christian symbol...Palm Sunday...
On your third photo at the start of the thread there is a figure, normally The Good Shepherd (Jesus) kneeling under the Palm Trees in front of a broken column. This is broken which indicates the death of a young person ie one who did not reach 3 score years and 10. Each Stonemason would have a section of designs which they favoured, all variations on a theme.
As far as Masons marks, it would be extremely unusual for one to be anywhere on a family memorial. A building or public monument yes, and even then only near the bottom.
As an aside, I've swam in the water under the Britannia bridge when doing a Rescue Boat course with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service....great fun!

Hi Toby,
I would say it would either be a 'recessed panel' if it is cut into the stone or an 'inlaid/inset panel' if it is a separate piece of material.

Hi Jess, Would that be Jeannie? born 1890 and my granny Maggie's wee sister? I've got a tree on Myheritage.  Are you on that? It's 'the Rae family tree' . I don't have a date of death for her but have photo of your gg grandparents Peter and Janet. Also have details of other siblings etc but will have to fire up the computer for that...haha. Pete.
