Hullo Matilda,

Many thanks for your reply to my query regarding the subject persons.    I do have all of the suggested information Matilda, but, what I was really hoping for with my initial request was to try and find any of the living relatives who I could correspond with because I have reason to believe that my Father could have been one of the children of the initial marriage.   I have all of the information back to the 1871 Census.

Thank you again.

Jim

I am researching the Family of Mansfield WALKER , born Newcastle-on-Tyne abt 1863, his Wife Mary WALKER (nee) DOUGHERTY/DOCHERTY born Gateshead, Durham abt 1864.    Mary went on to marry Michael DEMPSEY after the demise of Mansfield WALKER.

Children of Mansfield and Mary :

    Jane WALKER     Born abt 1886
    James  WALKER  born abt 1887
    Mansfield WALKER   born abt 1888
    Anthony WALKER  born abt 1895

I would like to correspond with any person researching or having any knowledge of this Family.    On the 1901 UK Census they were residing at 40 Burton Street, All Saints, Newcastle-on-Tyne.

Hi Jim,

Sounds complicated your James. You have what you asked for and was given the copy at our Fam history society by a friend-hence so posted it as you may like it for display in your tree.

Regards Dave

Hullo David,

You have been a great help to me in my search and, once again, I want to say thank you ever so much.

Hullo Dave,

Thank you, yet again for supplying me with the image.   I have taken a copy, as you suggested.    I have very good reason to believe that this James absconded from his home as a young lad, changed his surname to BROUGHTON and went to sea in the Merchant Navy.    Eventually he ended up in Australia and became my Father.   I found him on the 1911 Census living in a Boarding House in Poplar.   On the Census he shows his place of birth as Ashington, but it has been overwritten, obviously by some official, to be Botany Bay, which I believe was or is located near Batley.   I'm still trying to prove that it is, in fact, James Ernest WALKER (alias BROUGHTON).

I have his World War One Medal Roll from the London Archives and that shows that he was born in Ashington in 1886.   This is the correct one because the Medal Numbers, engraved thereon, correspond with the medals I have in my possession.

Regards, Jim

Hullo Dave,

I certainly agree with your 'possibles', because, if this James is the person I am looking for, he was in the Merchant Navy as an Able Seaman at the time.   Thank you, yet again, for your input to my problem.

Regards, Jim

Hullo dobfarm,

The info you sent is just about overwhelming.   I just can't thank you enough.   With your reply you have answered five of my questions in the one message.    Thank you again.
