A huge thank you to everyone for being so kind to look up and share information with me. I greatly appreciate your time and effort in trying to help me.
I managed to see the Catholic marriage records on Find my past. The record of James Taylor and Sarah Bentley was witnessed by a DANIEL TAYLOR and MARY SUMMERFIELD.

It doesn't state what relation they are.

I guess I will need to check the Anglican records to see if the Witnesses are the same and if it gives any more details.

Thank you Medpat. I have just been looking at the Catholic church registers for St Marys, Walsall and St Thomas the Apostle, Bloxwich.  Apparently in May 1824 there was a James Taylor who received confirmation at St Mary's.   I am wondering if this could be the same person?
In 1825 there is a Sarah Taylor who is confirmed at St Thomas' in Bloxwich.

I think I need to try and see a copy of their marriage records. So I guess I will have to make a visit to the Catholic records office in Birmingham.

Thank you everyone. I am new to this and so every little bit of help is greatly appreciated.

Wow! Thank you all for the information you have provided so far. Really interesting facts about the Catholic faith and why it was sometimes necessary to have two weddings. I can honestly say I have learned something new today. Thank you! :)

I am confused as to why they would marry in a Roman Catholic Church if neither of them Catholic?

Is James Taylor who was christened in 1802 at the Anglican church, the right James Taylor? If so,why would he marry in Catholic church? I am sure his wife Sarah Bentley was of the Anglican faith.

Thank you very much for looking up the name on the Dutch website. I think you are probably right that the child would have been registered under the Mother's name.

Does anyone know if his army records would have details of the child?

Thank you for all of the information.  So I gather at least one of the couple was a Roman Catholic - I wonder wh they got married the following day in an Anglican church?  Maybe you are right in that it was to do with the laws of the time concerning the catholic faith.

Interesting to find out they married on a Tuesday and that it coincides with Market day.

Does anyone know if there would have been a marriage certificate or some document showing the details of James Taylors parents or his address?

I am wondering how he got from Poole to Bloxwich?
You may have guessed I am new to this and I have hit a brick wall in finding any of the Taylor family.

Can anyone trace John and Jane Taylor?  I know they had a son James who was born 1801 and christened 1802.

Hi Claire,
Thank you for replying. It certainly looks promising. I just need to see if I can trace John and Jane Taylor back to any links with France.

I am trying to trace anyone who knew my Grandfather Horace Henry Littlehales. He was born in 1914 and died in 1991. He lived in Walsall.
I know he served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corp - and he was based in Utrecht.

Does anyone know of him? I believe he had a child with a lady he had an affair with whilst in Utrecht.
Where can I find details?

Thank you.
