Somerset / Re: Which Isaac TRIPP married Rachel STOCK in Shipham in 1756?
« on: Sunday 01 April 18 20:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi, My ancestors are clark/tripp/stock. my 6x great grandfather was Isaac Tripp 1734 who married Rachel Stock in Shipham 1756. Isaac's parents were William Tripp 1710 and Hannah Seal 1712 (debatable as I can find no trace of Hannah Seal but that's not saying she did not come from another parish). You can find all this info, if you are willing to trail through the century's on the internet. Look for 'parish records for St. Leonard's, Shipham, Somerset'. I just typed into google 17th century shipham etc. There are a lot of Tripp's and Stock's on this roll, however, if you are willing to spend a little time on it, it is well worth it. I took snap shots and went through it piece by piece, name by name. like I said there are a lot of tripps/stocks etc on there and you can easily lose your way. Ironically Isaac's son (my 5x Great grandfather) William Tripp 1759 married a Grace Stock in 1783 Shipham. Cousins maybe?? or more likely just a very common name in Shipham, who knows?? I myself am stuck on Charlotte Winter 1786, she married Samuel Tripp in Shipham in 1813. I can find no trace of her.

good luck, hope this post helped

Somerset / Re: Charles LANE somerset

Hi I am a descendant of James Lane and Ann Thiery. They are my GGGG grandparents. My grandmother is Elvira Elizabeth Lane of Sixbells Abertillery (where I was born). Her father is James Lane born Llanhilleth 1888 and mother Daisy Louisa Davies born Merthyr Tydfil 1898. His father was Mark Lane born Somerset 1841 and mother Elizabeth Cooper born Somerset 1841. Marks brothers and sisters that I have been able to find were: Worthy born abt 1843, Alfred 1852, Charles 1838, James 1840, Harriet 1837. Their parents were Mark Lane born Camley in 1816 who married in Chew Magna Somerset in 1837/38 to Sarah Cowdrey/Cawdry 1816. Marks parents were James Lane 1769 and Ann Thiery 1771. I have found what I think maybe a possiblity of his parents: Richard Lane 1721 who married 3/7/1753 Wellington Shropshire to Jane Neuns 1721. Richards father and mother were Henry Lane 1695 and Mary 1699. My only query of this is: there is a Henry Lane married to a Jane Neuns. So there seems to be a cross over of names. I cannot find Ann Thiery in Somerset, however the name does suggest French origins. If you would be willing to share information I would be very grateful of this and I am of course willing to share anything of my tree. However I do not know how to share my private email address on the site. If you would be willing to talk me through this I would be eternally grateful
Kind regards

Shropshire / Re: Houldings of Market Drayton area.
« on: Saturday 24 June 17 21:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi California Dreamin,
My great, great grandfather was Joseph Houlding who's second marriage was to Ada Drownes Davies in 1905 Market Drayton. Josephs first wife was Ann Steventon born 1859 market Drayton. I have not gone down the root of Ada as my ancestor is from Joseph and Ann's marriage, (Annie Houlding). Joseph indeed had a brother tom along with other siblings. Their parents are Thomas (birth est 1807) and Martha (birth est 1825), both from Shropshire. Thomas' parents are Stephen and Ann.
